Roger. Will do. I sure hope it is fine. I have to take a load in to downtown Pittsburgh, and as shady as those PA cops are, it's nice to have some distance on that radio.

Just felt like ranting instead of being helpful?

Well, I have enough electrical knowlege/radio install knowledge to plug in a ground, and a power wire. Plus, the truck has the terminals for a radio in it, so I know those are connected correctly. As far as the mount being connected incorrectly, that is very false. The mount itself is connected properly. The only problem there might be, is the washer being in the wrong place. As far as that goes; When the antenna and bracket were found in the mud, that is where the washer was placed, so doing the smart thing, I placed it right where I found it.

But, unlike most lazy people these days, I choose to learn, and do things myself, instead of just paying someone to do it for me, and never actually learning a thing about it.. So that way, in the future, if I ever have a problem, I can fix it on my own.

I don't know exactly what your post was meant to be, but don't really appreciate the negativity, and feel of insult. You may just pay someone to do a job for you when you can't figure it out.. But that is not me. I choose to put my nose to the grind stone, and figure out my problems on my own, and learn in the process. But to each his own. Unless you have some sort of advice, or a tip, there really was no sense in posting at all.

Okay, I am late to this party. I will post this not so much for the current posters. You guys are doing well enough without me. This is intended more for anyone who is lurking and has no knowledge of CB radios.
    .
Isbn 0-9139-9004-3 "The Big Dummies Guide to CB Radio" Personally, I do not much care for the title but it is a very easy to read book that explains basic information quite clearly. Pretty good explanation on how to tune the antenna and more importantly what the meter readings mean.
    .
Isbn 0-8019-6623 "Chilton's CB Handbook" Excellent book that is not to technical. The troubleshooting section alone is worth the cost of the book.
    .
Both of these books are long out-of-print. So, you will have to go to the internet for used books. Cost is relatively low for the very useful information that will be in your reference library.

Maybe Channel Jumper you should get in a few big trucks and then maybe you would find most fuse panels aren't marked like little cars and trucks.

Many of the comments you write clearly show your lack of knowledge in the world of big rig trucking.

If you read my original post, I clearly stated that the smaller antenna found in the dirt worked perfectly fine. I switched antennas, and that is when the problem occurred. Also, the bracket is not mounted on the body, but mounted on a bar that is connected to the truck by means of steel bolts, in 2 seperate locations. There for, it has sufficient ground on the truck itself. All you seem to be doing is reading excerpts from a book, and posting them, instead of hinting at or trying to explain what the problem may be.

Read the original post, and then give your opinion as to what you may think the problem is. Other than that, I don't see any need for you to post.

And as I said, it isn't the antenna found in the dirt that is causing this problem. That antenna is off the truck, because I replaced it with a firestik, and that is when the problem occurs.

Anyone with common electrical knowledge can hook up a radio/CB radio. It isn't that difficult. It is the small details on how to calibrate, or tune it, that is the difficult part. Obviously, you know these small little details. So instead of ranting about how "certain" people shouldn't hook up a radio, help them to do it.

Is that what you were doing? My mistake because when I read it, I got the impression it was a veiled put down to the OP and a chance to show how much you know and everyone else doesn't. Sure glad you cleared that up.
