There logic will be all the damage you did to the truck, 1st there going to charge you for having to clean it inside and out 2nd they have to have it serviced plus you have to pay for all the wear on the tires. If you are still owed money then there every little scratch and scruff inside and out that has to be repaired. beyond that they will invent stuff and in the end when all is said and done you can expect to owe them money.

CRE tried that with Me, But I was 1 step ahead of them I put in for Lumper = to - a bit so wasn't obvious what money of mine they had. Then told them I wanted to come into SLC get new tires. (Was 2 days till my 6 month walk away clause) When I dropped load sent drop to DM right behind it was a 2 word message! Any one want to guess what it was? Walked into lease office handed keys recipet for Custom detail by thier shop. (BTW Sold O/O my 10 tractor tires for 1500 they where almost new. I think 13/32 for his "MAY POPS" (Had 10k in maint fund I had like 3300 left after my Lumper fee. Anyway walked away even as i could.

They tried to claim a abandonment(But I have copy of recipet for keys at SLC) Then tried to claim (Quit under load) Had Pic of Messages.(Then tried to claim Damage(Had recipit for A clean return from shop.) They put all on DAC but 2 phone calls from my Lawyer(My brother who is a driver) And it was all removed, I even have letter saying Left on good terms and am rehirable!(LIKE THAT WILL HAPPEN!) Sometimes you got to be smarter than the avg crooked company!

Abandoning a truck is a kiss of death? No it's not. In 20 years in this business I have had three (3) unauthorized location of vehicle, ( abandonment ) on my DAC / Hireright. I have always been innovative enough to find a decent job. JUST REMEMBER. STUFF ONLY STAYS ON YOUR DAC THREE YEARS. THATS IT. INCLUDING FAILED DRUG TEST.

dac, or hireright as its known now, recently lost a class action law suite. Of which i was a part of. 2200.00 settlement. ) hireright will no longer arbitrarily put false information on your record. If you see anything wrong on your dac, go online to hireright dispute. Then fill out the form. They'll get back in contact with you. Companies love to hurt you this way. They want revenge for you quitting. Thats how i see it. They want to hurt you in this industry. " you'll never work in this town again" that mentality. Let me tell you, my work history is a who's who of trucking companies. Im not proud of that, but it is what it is. Im still highly qualified. 90% of the companies on my dac put will rehire and performance " satisfactory " you guys will be fine, you just met up with a rogue company that you didnt know anything about, ok s*** happens. You move on. Life continues. What they eat dont make you s*** .

My experience with trucking companies also spans 2 decades my friend. I have worked as a driver trainer for 2 carriers and worked in the safety department for 1.

The FACT is this; A driver that applies to a "reputable" carrier is vetted before he is ever given an orientation date. Once the background check comes in, such as work history, DMV report, USIS report, PSP score etc. a determination will be made whether the driver that applied is worth taking a chance on. Normally the BEST qualified applicant is given the slot or job opening.

Things that are automatic disqualifiers are TRUCK ABANDONMENT, DUI/DWI. ANY rear end collision, at fault accidents exceeding $5,000 in damages within the past 1 year, positive drug tests, and any report of THEFT of company property.

The fact that YOU got away with a positive drug test and were able to return to driving makes you extremely lucky. The fact that YOU abandoned trucks several times in your career also shows your lack of accountability and further illustrates why REPUTABLE carriers will not hire a driver that has abandoned a truck. It is a measure of the drivers character in which you have apparently failed miserably so take your poor advice and crawl back under that rock from whence you came. This forum is dedicated to steering drivers in the right direction not justifying poor irresponsible decisions like the ones YOU made.
