Each council sets their own price for the cookies. It's $4 in the council I am in, but it's $3.50 in other councils. Trust me, the T/S is not having the girls jack up the prices. :biggrin_25513:

If the driver went to his shop and asked, I'm sure they'd give him a spare to put in his truck. It'll save them $200 to have a service truck come out and replace it at a scale.

Thanks for telling that guy, next time it might be me ! I also was raised that way. Mayhap the fellow genuinely is unaware, in which case it is beneficial to let him know

if he thinks the company should just "fix it themselves" I can't imagine what the inside of his truck looks like...especially after what you discribed what HE looks like.

I have no respect for people who thinks the world owes them everything. (Notice my signature) It will bite his arse in the end...

Drive the truck like you own it, even if it is the company truck. Take PRIDE in what you do now, it will pay you more later...either in cash or respect from the company, or both.

Why would he have to pay out anything? His company will pay the Petro to replace it. They DO have to know about it first though.

So you are jacking the prices up? That's even worse, lol. What's wrong with the same profit margin? That's what quota's are for. I know, charge an extra .50 and they don't have to work as hard. :biggrin_25513:

I bought some cookies about a week ago. $3.50. Nothing but parents selling them. No girl scouts around. I was disturbed by that. Part of selling the cookies is teaching the girls responsibility. It doesn't do any good the parents doing the work trying to win some quota for their kids or something.

I remember the days they would knock on your door. Then they would come back and deliver. I haven't seen that in probably 25 years. I was boyscout and remember selling magazines door to door. I haven't even seen them out and about anymore. It's funny how times change.

Back to the OP, I don't know if anyone caught it. The guy parks at the fuel island, buys a couple dews and Dorito's, then he goes and parks. :)

We sold popcorn...did the door-to-door thing one year, but it was amazing how many people would ORDER it, but never be around to take delivery and pay you for it. Mom & dad got stuck with a lot of popcorn that year, so that was the end of selling to people we didn't know.

Anymore, there's too many creeps and stories about kids being abducted and crap like that going on for parents to allow kids to roam the neighborhood knocking on doors selling anything by themselves....got to have a parent with them to ensure their safety, and most parents don't have the time/motivation to walk around the neighborhood with their kid knocking on doors. It's much easier for the parent to take the stuff to work & sell it, so that's what they do....something my parents always refused to do, because like you said, the kid learns the wrong lessons when other people do all of the work for them while they take the credit.

this the way i see it, first you or anyboby can;t tell anyboby how too live or drive there truck, but thats not whats get me, what gets me is they , like you said , spent there advance money on junk food, thats there problem, becuse there broke and most new guys coming out or off a trainer truck are broke, so first time in fuel island , there so hungry they get adavance, max out, now there fed , but truck still broke, so now there out of advances, so they go around hitting on drivers for smokes and some change, excuse me as i wacthed you spend $34 dollers on junk food, why dont take that back and get a headlight, thats the people i hate, i will not feed somebody or give them money , thats like feeding and preying on the weaker , the weaker is the truckdriver, far as truck goes, i always keep my truck up even tho its was company, it was sweep out , thrash taken out and if at shipper or rec ask were i can put my trash, a shipper or rec is gonna likely load a nice shiny truck , rather then a grungy looking truck, becuse he knows that truck driver gonna care for that product, i was pretty fussy on my loads, all strap en locked down, even if took some extra time.:biggrin_25519:
