I would assume I need a mentor for 28 days because I basically have zero experience - I'm a brand new graduate from Great American Truck Driving School in Detroit, MI. The lady I want to team with is someone I was in class with, another new graduate, so in the same boat I am. I will definitely email my recruiter and ask her to lay it all out for me again, because I was very clear in asking her about pay and miles, and was told we would each receive 22 cpm during training, and that the 26 cpm was also each after training, and was further given the example of say we team drove 5k in a week, we would each get 26cpm for 2500 miles, or about $650, each. So if I can get that in writing, that would give me some reassurance....but I've read a few posts that new drivers were still screwed even with receiving emails from recruiters, because the recruiters gave wrong information or something. never even thought to ask about the $200 bonus, was surprised when the recruiter told me to begin with, wasn't expecting anything like that at all.

Wow! There seems to be an endless supply ready to go through the mill. Trucking will never change until these people stop flocking to these companies.

They just got rid of the $50 per day thing. Now, all new recruits start at 22cpm. It will encourage you to run more miles. About the bonus, don't count on it. No such thing here, any money "given" to you will be used to pay for your drug test lab work/physical at about $190. You "can" make money running good miles, but, when your new and not knowing what you are doing...it will be tough. good luck though, i mean that! -
thanks! need all the good luck i can get.
somethin i dont understand is why i have to get a new DOT physical when mine is only about 6 weeks old but whatever, i want to work so if i gotta jump through a few hoops i'm willing.

I did the crst thing but I did a lot of research so I new what to expect when I got there. It really takes a lot from someone to put up with that crap. Some of the people that get the cdl there shouldn't be on the road. To anyone getting there cdl there make sure you get the learners permit in your state. That's one week less you'll need to be there. Study because you'll need to take the learners test there again anyway. The day I got my paper cdl I asked the dmv if there was anyway crst can pull some strings and take it from me If I wanted to make like a branch and get the hell out of there and they said no. I was so happy I got a motel, picked up a 12 pack, got buzzed and split in the morning. I never signed a $2000 contract with kirkwood. I do expect to pay them back one day.

After all the complaints on here, why would someone read them and still sign on? I can understand not reading the forum or being innocent and blind. I'm just saying....I took a job with a company beside them in Cedar Rapids. Their facilities remind me of a run down boot camp. I had a room to myself while CRST guys were crammed 3 to a room with total strangers. Every morning and evening I listened to war stories and complaints. I laughed and felt sorry for them at the same time. With a little looking, some of you can find better choices. CRST is right there with Werner. Those two would be the bottom of my list. They should be yours.
Mommas_money_maker and PKG Thank this. -
