Can you elaborate more on the one that says "
    2. LEAF SPRINGS- Properly mounted and secured not cracked, bent or broken, NO MORE than ¼ broken or missing

No more than 1/4 WHAT missing? The leaf spring? This one is confusing to me, can you help me better understand what you meant exactly?

    Thanks!

It means no more then 1/4 of the total amount broken. So lets say your front leaf spring has 4 layers only 1 can be damaged.

Okay thank you... wow they allow for 1/4 of the leaf spring to be broken.. and its considered okay? I learned something! Would have not thought that would be the case....

Its not okay but its legal to drive it to a shop that way. Ive had all of mine break at once and i still drove it up to the truck stop.

I'm trying to make a Pre-Trip check list for my drivers that is complete. Your's is certainly the most complete I've been able to find. So, IF DOT pulled them into the scales for an inspection and saw that 1/4 was broken or cracked... this is a violation? Or they would not issue a violation for this amount? Thanks!

If the DOT officer knows the rules he wouldnt write a ticket, but we all know how educated they are.

With my limited interaction with the dot i'd say theyd put you oos. But according to the rules they shouldnt.

Okay hmmmm... well this is definitely something I'm going to need to ask them about. I'm going out for "work the scale day" next month, I'll put that on my list. Thanks!
