That's what progressive will quote. He might have to bite the bullet if bills insurance says no.

He might be a helluva driver, even better than most sterering wheel holders out there, but insurance just looks at the age. Few make exceptions and those that do charge dearly.

I walked outta the DMV about two days after i turned 18 with Class A in hand. Failed my first attempt for speeding on what i considered an Onramp to the interstate but technically it wasn't and was only a 35mph.

Used to haul a load of beans to cargill before class my senior year

Happen to have any contact info for them? So far I've only lined up progressive and western, and they both want more than $1k/month from me.

Check OOIDA owner operators independent drivers association. I'm 22 years old but I was 21 when I got my first truck. It was a 2002 Freightliner Century. It cost me 152.00 a month plus a 45 dollar once a year membership fee. So far they seem pretty good on dealing with things. As a company I'm leased on to a company out of Kalamazoo Michigan. I'm from arkansas. They were the only company that would put me in a company truck with zero experience. But they would have hired me or leased me on no questions ask if I was starting out as an owner operator with zero varifiable experience. And the do pay great. It's a small company with only 30 or 40 trucks but everybody knows you name.

Glad to know someones in the same boat. I'm a 22 yr old o/o. I thought about great American I have all the paperwork done just unsure if its a good fit. Have you heard anything about the company or is it your only option. I thought about landstar in June when I'm of age. Is it worth waiting? I'm at a decent company now just company trucks to compete with. Any advise?

I applied with Landstar when I came of age as well. Its been almost 2 months and they still haven't finished processing my application. I got my own authority a week ago instead.

Landstar would be the cheaper option of the two, but they really rubbed me the wrong way in the first 4 weeks of jumping through hoops.
