Quoted for reefer, 500mi radius, Progressive wants $10,555 paid in full. $1m/$100k/$25k, $8k for tractor, $30k for trailer, already have my bobtail through OOIDA at $84/mo

I think I might try getting quoted for a poverty box and dick around with one instead until I'm paying on more than company driver wages.

It'd help if I were older and had more experience.

    Progressive for me too.
But, mine is about double that. (Dump truck/trailer coverage is a bunch higher)

some of these guys have to be leased to a carrier and are paying physical damage and bobtail insurance rates not primary liability and cargo which is usually around 800 a month from what I have seen progresive gave my boy who is 21 a rate of 22000 a year with a 500 mile radius if he ran under his own authority now he is gonna lease to a company and insurance thru them is bobtail 50 a month occ hazard 139 month and phyical damage 4.5 % of stated value so about 45 dollars for each 10 thousand in value I hope this helps anyway he will be paying 279 a month by being leased to a carrier as opposed to 1833 a month on his own. the company takes 25% and pays the primay liabilty and cargo insurance.

Finally got progressive talked down to $9560/year with an $859 down payment, and 11 payments of $791 and jumped on it. Now most of my paycheck after bills are paid is tied up in insurance payments so I don't cut into my operating cost reserve until I can get the truck running , hopefully by the 15th or so.

I'm not the greatest when it comes to timing things.
