1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well, after over a year with my employer, I think I need to put my feelers out. I am tired of being pressured to run illegal. Tired of just a day off here and there, and soooo tired of NYC.

I have been driving for over 7 years, one ticket ever.

    Here is what I need.

    1. A company with a pet policy. My dog is good size, about 60 lbs, and giving him up is not negotiable. My husband died, leaving me with my pup as the only family I have.

    2. Good home time, regional would be great, but not necessary.

    3. Decent pay, I won't work for peanuts.

The rest is not important, I don't care if I drive an old truck, new truck, brand is not important....

    Please help me. Thanks

Oh, there is a company in KC, not huge, allows pets, good home time, and I forget their name, no matter how hard I try to remember. Wasn't a good fit for hubby and I, but for me alone it may be. Anyone know it by any chance?

Was it All Freight Systems? They are in the KC area and sound like a great place (we live outside their hiring area or DH would be there in a heartbeat). There is all WN Morehouse in Omaha if you're interested in that area. If you're interested in Morehouse, give me a yell, DH is there now and I can tell ya what I know and who to talk to.

Sorry to hear the bad news. If it's ok to ask, what happend? I hope you find the job that you are looking for. :yes2557:

All Freight Systems, that's the one I was thinking about. I could not remember their name to save my life.

CFI is not bad, but I am just not sold on them, now that they got bought out by Conway, I don't think I want to go there. Conway "fired" us 2 days after my husband had surgery because we took too much time off (4 weeks at that point), he was ready to go back in 2 more, but I guess it is their and many other companies policy to just let you go. I contribute their callousness to him dying, because of the stress they added to our lives when they did that. He had a bad heart, which we didn't know, but all the stress he had with just having had surgery, and then losing our job and insurance sure did not help.

I am still working at my job, but the constant pushing to do more is getting to me. I am tired of stressing about losing my job, because I am not willing to run 24/7 like the other guys, even though I work much harder than a great percentage of people would be willing to do. I go into NYC every week, started to pick up at several places, always with a packed trailer, trying to cram as much in there as possible, pushing the weight to the limit, not getting enough sleep because of getting up at 3am to drive into the city. It is all getting old.

I do a turnaround from St. Louis to NYC in 4 days, with multiple stops, sometimes 5 days, and that is still not enough for them. I get #####ed at doing only 2200 miles a week....hello, I only go east, I guess I could drive 200 miles into the ocean to add some.

Being on my own, I have to make enough money to cover bills that 2 incomes used to cover, therefore the need for a decent paying job.

The job I have now pays very well, so I am trying to play the game. NO other company I have looked into pays even close to what I make now, and I get paid hubmiles to boot. I know money isn't everything, but for a couple more years, until I am caught up a bit more, I need to do, as much as I can.

I would like to hear more about Morehouse....please tell me more.

    Thanks you all.

One time in Iowa, I talked to a guy (out of Iowa) that ran strictly midwest runs. He said that Ohio was as far east, and I think Colorado was as far West that he was running. That might be a nice change for you. Only thing is, I can't remember the company name. However, maybe someone else can add to this (what companies out there offer these type of lanes). Maybe this is right for you. I wish I lived out that way (midwest) because I know that's what I'd want to do. I dislike the east coast very much. No place to sleep except a rest area here and there (better get there early to get a spot), sparce amount of truck stops, and of course the New England attitude of the people surrounding you on the highway. If I can, I will try to find out what companies run these lanes.

Sorry to report this, JBHT doesn't allow any pets.

Good luck in the search! I know you'll find one.

Oh my god, I can't go to JB???? This really crushes me. I don't know if I am going to be able to handle this blow, I really had my heart set on working for a company that cares more about the garbage can that they toss their trash into, than any single one of their drivers. Ah shucks.

During my previous career, I attended a training seminar put on by DOJ/DOT.
The instructor, asked the class if any of us ever responded to an accident where the driver had a dog/pet in his cab. Either preventable or not at fault or at fault, just had we seen a pet owner involved:
    No one had!
The average length of service in the classroom biz was 10 plus years, so that would have been 200 plus years of experience total.
now that I r a driver, I look around the T/S and I've noted folks who travel with a dog appear to be less stressed, presentable (dogs have standards ya know) , and overall have their stuff wired tight.
As companies pay their insurance based on accident rates, I wonder why they're not more into allowing pets?
