    You're welcome.

Since you mentioned in a previous post that you're working on development of a pre-trip procedure, Appendix G of the FMCSA regulations may be of help to you. It lists the minimum standards to be met during a periodic inspection. Lots of dry reading, and some will not be applicable to the equipment that you may be using, but it is comprehensive.

This is GREAT! Thank you! I am printing it out and going to put a copy of it on the drivers table....as well as another copy in the classroom for Orientations.

Technically it's not. For periodic inspections the requirements are now what you posted, however for out of service criteria for roadside inspection you are still allowed 25%. Pg 754 of Safety Regulations pocketbook (2/12 printing) states.

    8. Suspension
Appendix G follows the new requirements of 393.207 which does not allow any broken leaves in a leaf spring assembly. The out-of-service criteria allows up to 25% broken or missing leaves before being placed out-of-service.

    A proper pre trip simple.
If it has a fluid level check it
If it is attached to the truck check it
If it holds air check it
If it can wear check it
If it is electrical test it
    If it leaks fix it

    elpase time about 15 minutes
