As ac120 said, that is the thought process of an experienced driver, and we are so used to running all those options through our head in just a few seconds, that it makes the chart looks very complicated.

Get as near the customer's place as possible. Maybe give them a call to see if they can take the load earlier. If not, stay at the truck stop or rest area. Go to the customer at your appointed time.
Done deal.
You complicated a simple job. Like we need more of that nowadays.Truck609 Thanks this. -
No, you over simplified it. By doing what you suggest, you are not planning as efficiently as you could. And thus, costing yourself time and money.
-
Nothing like over-thinking an everyday part of your job there trucker. -
Well if that works for you then go for it. I don't think I could wrap my head around all of that. I am also of the opinion making a call, can you deliver there early or spend the night. Get as close as you can or if you know what your next load will be, stop and rest and then drive to your delivery. Like someone mentioned, why make something that is relatively simple so complicated.
-
Is the OP going to come up with a I delivered late what should I do chart, that chart reminds me of the NCAA bracketology
-
Highflight1985 trucking isn't rocket science eitheir. Yes driving a T/T isn't as hard as you make it appear and your chart doesn't cover everything that can and will go wrong. Like getting stuck in Little America,Wy. for 3 days by WDOT due the roads being closed due to weather(high winds and Snow). Yes this can, does, and will happen whether its due to snow, tornadoes, hurricanes. Another example that can throw the proverbial monkey wrench in your chart is breaking down on a Friday late afternoon and the shop won't get the part till Monday.

How about a chart showing the breakdown of taking a deuce first thing in the morning while it's still dark out?kw9's rock and 123456 Thank this.

*sigh* And this is another reason why truckers aren't respected. Someone puts effort into putting together a document to use in training people new to the job, does a #### fine job of it, and all you guys want to do is gripe about how bad you think it is and how you're so smart and experienced that it wouldn't have done you any good if you had seen it when you were learning how to do the job.
Unbelievable.Dstraw Thanks this. -
Hell some people can not function without a flow chart. Some do all of that in their head, some do none and take it as it comes.
His way is overdone for me but if it helps someone become efficient that needs visual guides like that, who can it hurt.
I would make a suggestion that after awhile the OP will find all of that will most likely be automatic. But if it helps a new guy hit the ground running a little better good on ya'.windsmith Thanks this.
