You are right about "can be" and I was misquoting it until I read 383.51. I was misquoting but the results are the same! It is not automatically reckless driving but it caries the exact same penalty.
If you look in Table 2, "Disqualification for serious traffic violations", you will find that speeding in excess of 15 MPH, reckless driving, following too close, erratic lane changes and five other offences have exactly the same effect on your CDL. Furthermore, committing these violations in a four-wheeler, if you hold a CDL, has almost the same consequences.
What is worth pointing out is the OP didn't already possess a CDL, so these penalties don't apply. However a trucking company will look at his MVR and consider him to be a higher risk than drivers without such offenses.
Whats your opinon on speeding tickets impacting new drivers

So depending upon the number of times you've received ticket's, and for the physical amount(s) over will deturmine what carrier's will initially hire you as a newbie....potentially.
In other word's, alot of looking up, alot of call's, e-mails and finger crossing, as well as your safest bet is to go 5 year's minimum without one & not the simple three they say is required/feasable!
***Stating three in an ad(which is MOST ALL OF THEM) really just gives them the oportunity to "check you out", and is usually more than just your MVR. It's your personal backround and even thing's they have NO RIGHT 2know........
& just like many other entities that are not even CDL related......they can SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFO depending upon how they are set-up.
Alot of ppl(cough-Cough.....SUCKER's) spend CDL school money in hopes the "withing 3" is enough; but after having the stupid stamp on their forhead and not knowing it, they then get sent home after spending $$$ on schooling and bus ticket's/trip's to the CO.'s orientation out of state, and time and effort, just to get told SORRY BUDDY. But they will all YES you to death and make you BUY THE INDUSTRY PRODUCT'(S) & Spend money in their district's while on the trip(s) to orientation and the like.........even though in the end you can't use it, make any money with it, or even in a number of cases even complete actually getting some of that industry product......(like THE ACTUAL CDL itslef depending upon how you were intending to go about it in the first place), and they fully know it!
But your name is either already on the dotted line or already out of your pocket/account, so it doesn't matter- nevermind possable high rate compounding interest on said amount's.....
I'd be curious and like 2know: Depending upon the state you either A/. Live in and-or B/. the state that the carrier is physically based out of.........Just how long LEGALLY a potential can actually go back on your DMV for??
Personally - The industy ought to lighten up on ticket's depending upon the circumstances & go more full throttle on anykind of DUI/DWI/Drug charges and the like. -

any moving violation hurts your CDL , drivers do carry radar detectors, but just dont get caught with it

Yes, it does hinder your chances with the good companies. You can still get a job, though. It's better if you get a ticket for something else, like expired tag, or headlight out, or going over a restricted bridge.
