Is that paint or rust o that glider driver
OP Krooser has sen a lot of changes in this industry since 72. HOWEVER, companies look at the bottom line. They always will. They look into what is cutting into their profits and idling is a factor in that especially with diesel approaching 4 buck a gallon and 5 a gallon on the coasts.
Is it right that they let a driver freeze or sweat to death. Kroozer was probably allowed to idle both of those trucks to keep warm and, if he's still driving today, either has a truck with an apu or still idles.
So what do yo do a a driver wh is too hot or too cold..you mave multiple choices..
Defeat the idle timer as has been suggested
Get the opany to get you a hotel room every ight that its unbearable
Find a company that has apu's or webastos in the sleepers
and last but not least if those three options don't work..find a local driving job so you home in bed at night
Petey
im a complaining rookie, am I wrong?

Diesel was 30 cents per gallon in '72 and idling was an accepted practice back then BUT most trucks didn't have a/c and few had good heaters, either. Around November we'd all try to find the biggest cardboard refrigerator box we could find and we'd tape and wire it to the front of the truck to keep both the engine AND the driver warm...LaBubba Thanks this. -
imagine someone around 6 foot three or four in a cabover , or mid roof volvo I would love to have peterbuilt fella , count yourself lucky....

Ouch! Ask the man in the office to assign you a new truck, If he refuses, Drive it until you find a better company that really cares about the Driver.
Maybe you can ask for the eco-friendly model...

Sure its annoying being in this small Pete, but Ive already sucked it up. What im really pissed about is when it starts to get hot, I dont know what im going to do then. Setting cruise doesnt work, and when I set only the trailer brakes it will let me idle up to about 15 mins then it gets smart and shuts off, the only thing that works is to depress the clutch...if only I can find a way to keep the clutch depress....

First truck I drove had what looked like another dash behind the seat for a sleeper.
Piece of metal about 6" wide. Truck had no insulation so the outside temp was the inside temp.
No power steering, and suspension that would beat you nearly to death.
You ain't got it all that bad. -
And yer welcome ... that was a funny post.

Do you guys have anymore ideas? I tried all.of them, and still I burn to death. Last night I only got about 3hrs of sleep while I tossed and turned and wiped my sweat over and over. Im currently onthe drive at night and sleep.during the day schedule and the sun bakes me like crazy. I love otr but I dont think I can stay with this company if im treated worse than a dog.
