I've applied and been accepted there and was planning to go but have also been offered a place at Houg.

Pride offered .34 cpm with .10 cpm forced per diem.

Houg offered .35 cpm with no per diem.

My last day at Butler is Saturday, then I'm off on vacation and I'll make a decision.

My opinion: Houg is alot better. Navajos CSA record is really high, thats another reason I dont have an interest in them anymore. My old dispatcher isnt there neither.I do miss the fun times in Denver though.Seems like all these mass trucking companies are the same.Hirshbach has a #### good deal going right now, giving that some thought...

10 c forced per diem... I did not know that. If you are a newbie... what does that mean?
25c and 10 c per diem? Can anyone confirm?

Per diem is the amount the govt cant tax you on. So if youre getting paid .34 only .24 is taxable...the down side for that is less liability on the Co. meaning less is paid into your 401,k social security and itll affect u if u ever want a loan...etc

I am aware of the per diem trap: BAD FOR TAXES-- 1099 END OF YEAR, CREDIT, COMP, SS...--GOOD FOR COMPANY -- usually a 2c "handling fee" i am really disappointed that it is forced per diem and I have a real problem with a company that feels they are entitled to mess with my paycheck... that is why I ruled out Central and now this one if it is forced per diem.

Really doesn't seem like a hard decision to make.

After some ups and downs, I've taken a break to look at other ends of the trucking spectrum.
Pride still seems good for those that like to run, but with all the endorsements I have, I'm looking towards any form of tank hauling that sticks to a limited region.
Many companies can be the same, but if I could eliminate just a few challenges from this line of work, it would be the shipping/receiving clowns.
