I think I may have screwed myself.
I want to drive OTR and am planning on starting school in a few months, but I had a monster speeding ticket (24-29 over) and am wondering if I will even be able to get a job when I get done. The Ticket was on 4/24/2007 so it will be 5 years old in a couple of months. I have had none since. I have read other threads on this forum but saw many different answers and the tickets in question were always smaller (15+ over). And before everyone feels the need to lecture me, I know I screwed up and should have obeyed the law. My old job however, (I owned a speed shop that did performance work on cars and bikes) dictated that I drive some really powerful vehicles at times and believe it when I say that I exercised TONS of restraint daily when driving and did everything I could to stay legal while still being able to test vehicles. This one just got away from me for a few seconds at the wrong time. It was a hell of a ride though.Any educated advice would be greatly appreciated.

The ticket is too old to worry about.
Unless they wrote you up for something other than speeding.
Reckless Endangerment, etc....arpta2 Thanks this. -
I ain't gonna lecture you but I think you're starting off on the wrong foot taking this particular attitude. You clearly did not do everything you could to stay legal. Because if that was the case, you would been driving on a closed course where it is perfectly legal to go as fast you like and would have never gotten that ticket. Again, this ain't a lecture, you're wanting to enter into an industry where 'I did everything I could' ain't gonna cut it. Instead of I did everything I could, consider something like I was willfully breaking the law when I had other options available and it taught me a always take the legal option instead of taking shortcuts. Take that attitude and I think you'll do better when it comes time to get someone to hire you.arpta2 Thanks this.

As long as there is nothing within the last 3 years you should not have a problem finding a job.

Anything over 3 yes drops off your driving record for speeding violations.
arpta2 Thanks this. -
Worst case scenario, if you're filling out an application and it asks for any moving violations in the last 5 years, wait 3 months and then finish filling it out. You wouldn't be lying at that point...because it would be 5 years old by the time you submitted the application.

I take it you don't have a CDL if you are starting school,If so like everyone said 3 years you are good to go especially if it was on a non CDL license

NOT EVEN CLOSE to BEING TRUE.
They say 3 as a general statement, but it all depend's upon the company, your all around record, the amount over if it differ's along the way. Alot of factor's. 3 is so you'll "HOPE" and spend money in the industry.....like schooling and trips in that companies district. Also, 3 is just to get you in the door, it's a minimum.....for the most part it's in 5 year's that'll assure you what your looking/hoping for. 3 year's is just an enticement.
I just pulled my record last......and i pulled it for 7 years. Guess what? An old ticket is on there. So no, It does not "FALL-OFF" in three. -
Varies by state......
