I have applied and have been fingerprinted on 2/21/2012;
as of today 03/14/2012 I have not received anything. All of my class mates got their approval within 2 weeks and before graduation. I am still waiting. I do not have any history or anything negative in my background. I have already been through a background check once thanks to a CCW permit.
Any idea what could be taking so long? I know...I'm sounding impatient, but I would like to be working again, as this waiting is starting to drive me up the wall
The main reason I bring this up, is one of the companies I would like to work for requires HazMat before their orientation.

You can call TSA and they can tell you what the status is. That's what I had to do. I don't have the info with me now but you can get the number online.
-
I did my hazmat prints 2-20-12 same here no word class starts on the 19th I called today I passed the fbi background lady said I should get a letter in the mail. Give the T.s.a a call (877) 429-7746 had me on hold a bit due to high call volume but its a relief to know im good to go on hazmat X.

It varies, sometimes they may turn them out in 30 days, sometimes it may take 60 days. I think it has to do a lot with where you originated the process. Personally, If I did my 2/20 I'd not be expecting it before 4/1.

I did mine 02/19 and finally found out they completed it today, went down to DMV and now have my X endorsement
on my license. With any luck yours should be done shortly.....just keep calling them. Good luck.

dont get into a big hurry and panic, remember it is our lovely government and waiting on them is like waiting for cement to dry.
they never hurry as long as they owe you something, but if you owe them they are on your butt. -
Mine took about 2 weeks. Like STexan it can take up to 2 months. I would call TSA and see if they can tell you anything.
-
Don't worry. Mine took about 6 weeks. It's randomly different for everyone.

I've called the TSA 3 times...first, was on hold for 19 minutes...click and dial-tone. Second time, on hold for 9 minutes...click and dial-tone. Third time, on hold for 2 minutes, I'm sorry sir, but your background check is still under investigation, pending an employment from 1997...have a nice day day, click. (in a nutshell is what they said)
Why are they going back to a job that far back? and why try to contact an employer that no longer exists? I will admit that the job was for a low level federal clearance for new prison contruction...but to dig that deep from 14-16 years ago?
I guess I answer my own question when I say it will be the full 6 weeks since the company is no longer there, and this is the government we are talking about here...what sucks, the job I want will not start my orientation without that Hazmat endorement...
It's a test...that's it...they are testing my patience...and I WILL pass
