    years ago i used to drive an old sidewinder mack (237 witha 2 stick 6 speed) roarin across the back roads all night long picking up bulk milk at dairy farms listening to honest john and dave nemo on the AM...if i remember they were on wlw outa cinci...the good old days before qualcomms,automatics,cellphones and the boss didnt give a dam about idletime,over revs or brake aps....( dont suppose i could live on $56.00 a day anymore though)...

    Old post but here goes...

    If you had a CB prior to about 1973/74 you ran a cheap green light on the top of your left side mirror so other guys with radios knew another CB'er when they passed......

    How about the communal showers at most truck stops... and brokers offices upstairs...

    Remember that too. Didn't like the showers like that. The brokers on site was OK though. You know where they were if they didn't pay.

    Dysarts had that not long ago. Not sure if they still do its one of the few old school truck stops in the north east.

    Nope... I remember one of my first trips west with my "new" 6 channel Johnson radio... I bet I talked with 15 or 20 drivers with radios...wow! I had to order a channel 19 crystal since my radio only had a channel 10 crystal plus #9 and a few others.

    La was the shakey side New york city was the dirty side lumpers running beside you and hanging on your tractor as you were heading to the produce house to unload chitown beamtown places the professionals of today never heard.of what was it the meat haulers would say when they finished a sentence on the radio Shake Shake ?
