Hopefully I can get a couple of tractors paid off and run on my own authority someday.
I hear a lot of bad stories from current CRE drivers out here but they got mesmerized by that brand new Cascadia or Volvo. I ask what have they done to try and get better miles but for some reason a lot of them act like they are totally alone out here.
Some refuse to train while others are not proactive. I try to tell them what they might be able to do to get some good income generated but I think a lot of them are just sick of being away from home and dislike long periods of driving. It's not a 9 to 5 job.
Some of my former students would demand a 15 minute break after 2 hours of driving and then a 30 minute lunch. The newbies don't understand the turn/burn mindset since there will be periods of downtime later in the week.
In the hole

I think you hit the nail on the head with alot of them being sick being away from home . If you are going to be away that long , you need to make some decent money, and if you choose to work for CRE it seems the best pay is when being a trainer.

LoL im solo, leasing and making money, i to went in the hold for truck being down a week. I called and they are letting break the due balance in payments so im getting money and not being broke. Its all about how you handle you responsibilitys. I bet you have one of the blue volvos that sit in the yards, and are the type of driver that crys and complains about everything....to me it seems like if your not making money its because you dont want to cause its not hard.Everett Thanks this.

Multiple trucks with CRE,

You already have multiple trucks with CRE?
-
God no, just thinking of it makes my tummy hurt.....

Are they still taking out the VMT? At .14 per mile on top of the payment seems wrong. I have leased before and never heard of the extra charge with anyone except CRE. I had a weekly payment on a new truck around $625 a week and could bring home a decent check every week. I don't see that happening with a CRE lease. Just my .02.

Yes when you lease they take out 14 cents a mile. I guess they (CRE) should say you are grossing 76 cents a mile instead of 90 cents. That 14 cents is tax deductible though.

Trainer ? You mean having a $300 a week codriver running half your team miles while you log sleeper ?
With so many L/O's going in the hole or barely making it I don't see how anyone thinks a second truck would have enough revenue to support a driver .
