Hey Vegaspainter!! I get out in October!! I cant wait to meet ya all down there!! I'm in Colorado Springs right now and the latest buzz is that the City and County are about to give the green light for the drilling companies here!! I do not think that it is going to be large enough to be a boom town!! The main company out here is Mile High Energy!!

I work for one of those companies, they hire you as a Truck driver but 98 % of the compnaies will only use you as a driver about 2% of the time IF you are lucky! The rest of the tie you will be working the rigs or fracing or wireline something to do with production, not driving! Yes you can make alot of money but be warned you give them more hours than the pay is worth! Alot of trucking companies will NOT hire you because of your trucking experience in the oil & gas fields. Hope this helps you out, if you want to drive Tractor trailer do that if you want to work as a "hand" in the oil & gas field then do that, you just cant do both. sorry.

This statement is totally untrue.....I work for a rig moving company in Midland/Odessa. I drive a road winch truck and all I do is drive. Sometimes the rig move might be 1 mile or like the one we just finished yesterday from Hobbs, NM to Barnhardt, Tx it might 200 miles one way. In the last three days moving this rig I averaged 500+ miles a day . I get paid by the hour and average 80+ hours a week. My last check after taxes was $2234.46 for one week. I have been out here right at two months and have already gotten a $3.00 an hour raise. Lovin' life in the patch.
