    Hey, new to the forum,

I am thinking of going to the FFE school. after reading as much as i can i have a question about how the lumper thing works. how often do you have to use them? how much of the freight is on the floor? how much does FFe compensate you for the lumper fees? how does the FFe system work for the payment of lumpers.

i guess what i am asking is if you have to pay a lot of the lumper fees out of pocket how do you make any money? if you had to pay 150 per unload for lumpers for 3 loads a week you would be bringing home like 200 a week clear?

@ Mark, none of it comes out of your pocket. company pays all lumper fees via comcheck. The amount can come out of your check if you dont send in the recept.

You get tons of lumper fees doing ltl, truckload...not so much.

    thanks spat.

im sure i will have other questions. well, one would be if you dont mind me asking, what is your average take home pay? this might be a stupid question but do they pay for stuff like truck washes? oh, do they pay tolls?

im just trying to think of everything. i understand the pay isnt the best but want to figure out the pay because i do have bills. thanks.

im really excited about the possibility to work for ffe. i already was sent the homework. i am going to have to give them more info about my work history. i worked for yellow frt for 24 years as a dock worker but quit in 2009 to relocate to Pa. since being here i have had maybe 10 jobs in 2009 and 2010, mostly temp jobs but was let go by one full time job, my last one, then i got sick and was in the hospital 3 times in 2011, had surgery to fix the problem and i am great now. so i have been on unemployment for the last year and a half. i am worried about this, i hope it doesnt disqualify me from going to school. do you have any thoughts about this?

    thanks again...

    No problem...ask away.
Pay..0 to 1500...lol depends on you. figure 5-600 take home as a solo.
Tolls, covered by the little blue box on the windshiels, (except for FL and OK) for those states you just turn in the recepts and they appear on your next check.

Truck washes...free and unlimited at the Lancaster yard. Out on the road, nada...it sucks.
Ii carry a pole, brush and a coil hose under the bunk. I wash it when I can, just hard to find water. Also I detail the truck when I go home.

As for the work history...as long as its documented you will be fine.
