And by the way one of the guys I am talking about who makes more money than me this is the second lease purchase company he has been with. The first one was CR England and he didn't make anything there. He lived off his advances and when he left after 7 months he owed them almost $10,000. He never wanted to go into a lease purchase there he wanted to just be a company driver but they pulled that crap they love doing saying they had no company trucks available they only had lease trucks available. They told him it would be at least a month before there was a company truck for him. So he fell for it. Some outstanding company.

You need to work on comprehension on many levels.
Never said CRE or any lease program was GOOD. What I have always said was that most of the people that fail in these have more to do with complete lack of business skills and not understanding how to run a business (plus some other related stuff).
While you clearly have some magical wonder truck that and a super secret deal on expenses and compensation, please don't come trolling for more recruiting bonuses with your magical numbers.sewerman, rollin coal and SHC Thank this. -
LOL.... my truck is paid for and it cost me almost $1.27 per mile to operate it (figured at 5.5mpg). Now add on the $3,000 month truck payment and you have got an even larger line-up....
I have no idea how their system works, but as for running just your basic operating numbers it will break down like this for an avg of 10,000 miles per month (2,500 week)
Licensing, permits, 2290 = .02cpm
unladen insurance = .01cpm
Occ/Acc Insirance = .02cpm
Fuel taxes = .01cpm
Oil changes = .02cpm
Tires = .02cpm
Cell phone/Internet = .02cpm
Retirement = .02cpm
Medical insurance = .03cpm
Lease ($3,000 month) = .30cpm
fuel (6.5mpg @ $4 gal) = .61cpm
Maintence fund (repairs)= .07cpm
That alone comes out to $1.15 per mile, and that is BEFORE your household expenses such as rent/morgatage, electric and gas, phone, tv, car payments, and all the other bills you have. Now if you do not have a SINGLE expense at home, then you are still looking at $1.15cpm to run your truck and I did not add in physical damage insurance becasue I am not sure if it is included in your truck leese payment or not.
Now I know Bigkid2 is going to say "well the .07cpm for my maintenece includes my oil and tires" but in reality it does not if you want to run it properly. Those 2 things should have a seperate account set aside, cuz 1 large hit from your maintance account for lets say your emissions crap or a new turbo and now you have no money left for the tires you will be needing every 2 years (drives) or an oil change now. But you may get lucky and not have to ever touch your maintence account, which would be great, but I like to plan accordingly.BigBadBill and rollin coal Thank this. -
SHC, the argument will be that he get better MPG, they pay for some of that stuff and gets HUGE discounts on fuel, etc. Oh, and don't forget the truck is under warranty.

But even when you run a lower expenses and run it like a rental vs. planning on having it for over 500K miles, anyone that is an O/O knows what the true range of operating a truck is.
This is another great example why LP fail. The silly notion that your settlement statement is what you are making.
And will give it to ACT, for a mid-sized company, they have a good lease program. But as I have said many times before, if you don't know what you are doing then you can fail in this business with ZERO truck payment.
And many others will tell you the same thing about ACT LP as they tell you about all the others out there. Few make, many fail and the ones that do understand the business, are responsible and take very little time off. -
I am not trolling for recruits I just get a little tired of people thinking they know my business and what kind of money I make better than I do. I have taken a few math classes at IU so I would think I know how to crunch a few numbers. Since I have started here I have averaged about 2500 miles a week. So I will base it on that number.
602.16 Lease Payment .24 per mile
6.23 Bobtail insurance .0024 per mile
5.00 Transflow scanning .002 per mile
35.58 Plates and Permits .014 per mile
55.02 Physical Damage .022 per mile
28.02 Occ/Acc Ins. .011 per mile
175.00 Maint acct at .07 per mile
Fuel has cost me about .54 per mile since I started.
This all adds up to .9014 per mile. My truck has 240,000 miles on it and it is under warranty until 600,000 miles and my maintenance account is sitting at a balance of about $5000.00 which was higher but I had new steers and front shocks and an alignment and the dpf cleaned out in the last few weeks. -
What about your communications such as your cell phone, your retirement and your medical insurance? Those are also expenses' involved in owning and operating a truck as an O/O that a lot of guys leave out. I'm guessing they pay your fuel taxes since you didn't have that in there, and what about plates?
I'm just trying to see if my model is pretty close to what I can think of...rollin coal and BigBadBill Thank this. -
Great example of why LP's fail. Here is a list of "all" the expenses of running a truck. I guess if you are renting a truck and can turn it back in when the wheels come off because of lack of maintenance then you are making that money.rollin coal Thanks this.

Plates and permits was listed for $35.58 per week. I get health insurance though my wifes employer. I have a cell phone that costs about $50.00 a month but I would have that anyways. Everybody has a cell phone anymore even homeless people. My take home this week is $2039 on 2400 miles by the way. Over the last few months I have been averaging about .85 per mile after expenses.
-
You just crack me up. I am sitting with almost $40,000 in the bank and make about .85 after expenses to my bank but I am a great example of why lease purchases fail? Now that's funny. My bank account balance was about $1,000 when I started here a year ago tomorrow. I have made real close to $90,000 after expenses in that time while only running an average of 2500 miles a week. Sure don't sound like a failing business to me. Maybe that is what you are used to so you just can't believe to hear about anything different.

Sorry about that, I completely skipped over the plates/permits LOL
