I've been out of truck after 3 years driving otr solo. Great record and everything. 3 years home because of family matters and thought I probably wouldn't go back to truck driving. Decided to go back and applied to truck companies. Finally found out no one hiring me because of a suspended lic due to child support issues. At time of suspention I had no idea it was suspended and was unemployed part of the time. I went 3 months ago and had tanker endorsement added to lic. No idea that it had been suspended. Got endorsement and went on my way. Child support is being taken care of. My question is what am I susposed to do about getting a job since no one seems to want to hire me? I have a valid lic and a darn good driving record. HELP!!!![]()

It could either be the recent suspension, or because you've been off the road for three years. The big or companies typically want a year otr experience within the past three years.
My class c was suspended eight years ago for failure to maintain insurance, and no one has said a word about it. I'm always sure to disclose it on applications, though. -
Understand being off 3 years and expect to ride with trainer again for a short time. The suspension was over not being able to pay CS while unemployed. Which is being paid again. That had nothing to do with how I drive so DUH! I had offers for trainer stuff but then this. I just didn't know about it until a recruiter told me. I did thank him for that too as I had no idea. So question still remains what the heck do I do to get back on a truck??

Go talk with you child support case worker.
They need to lift the suspension. -
It has been lifted according to guy I talked to. Also I wouldn't have gotten the tanker endorsement if it hadn't been. They would have kept my lic.
-
then go back and get it in writing from him.
Why do people take those idjits for face value. It obviously isn't or else you would not have been turned down.
You can also go down to the local DMV and submit a request of your driving record for verification.
Why people don't do this along with their credit record annually is beyond me.

Ok the suspension my have been lifted by child support BUT you may have to pay the state a reinstatement fee. The reason you are not getting a job is because you have no recent experience, and if you hqve been doing nothing for 3years they think you were in jail....check for a feinstatement fee amd try to find a small company or a company that takes students (for a refreasher course)

No wasn't in jail and have been working just not driving. Didn't think to check lic as I had no reason to. They have recent job history. But yeah, I should have checked and will find out more. And I did expect to do refresher training or whatever it is called. Guy on another post somewhere else here said he had been driving a long time and learns something new everyday. I said that from the beginning that the day I think I know it all I will get out of a truck and so on. Nope this girl will never know it all and that is why I love being able to ask experienced truckers questions and why I miss being out there driving. Thanks much for the responses and advice and keep it coming. I still want another darn job driving a truck one day.

My license has been suspended for child support also, when I have put that down the suspension on applications I make sure to note that it was for child support....every where I have applied has told me that since it was administratively suspended and not ro any actual moving violation that it would not affect me. My insurance company has also told me the same thing.
