chain control is up from truckee to donner lake interchange, which means its not terrible. Now chains from truckee to applegate and its serious buniess.

And ive run with only 7k in my lead box and a completely empty rear box and I was fine, just go slow and easy on the brakes

Sorry, I didn't see this thread. I started a new one in the weather forum.

We'll leave this one out in the open since it's important news and I'll merge it with the other thread in a day or two.

They are talking about closing I-80 before it's over with. They said the plows can't keep up with 2 feet of snow.

6000'- forecast up to 12 inches
7000'- forecast up to 24 inches

Most up to date weather info for donner summit. An independent weather blog for the lake tahoe donner summit ski areas. I used to live up there. Know what's happening before the NWS. Research his past blogs. I posted this in the news section at the beginning of the week. He saw this coming up a week and half two weeks ago.

Search tahoe weather discussion. Bryan allegretto. See my post in truckers news.

My thoughts on getting over the hill. Do it early. Between 5 and 7 AM. Skiers are not on the road that early. The later it gets the more traffic. Sunday especially if you are west bound. By 10 o'clock you are sitting in traffic waiting. Truckee will gets gridlocked real fast don't even try to go into town if there is heavy snow.

If you have to go to tahoe from 80. 89 is your best route. Hwy 267 is steep. It only takes 1 4 wheeler to muck it up.

Snow level will drop Saturday morning.

    Keep it safe!

Not closed yet, only to single screw (axle for the rookies) trucks and doubles. It's pretty nasty though, got chain law up from Nyack to east of Truckee. Be careful.
