I think if a guy was to sit down and go through that list they'd hire him on the spot. I know I would. Great job TT. The interview was our most important part of the job hiring process. We already knew the qualifications because the company only hired experienced drivers and they even nailed it down to 2 years LOCAL experience so you knew the roads for your gasoline deliveries. My company did extensive background checks including a credit report so everything was paper until the interview. I don't agree with the credit checks but they do it and they have a stack of apps so they can be very picky. So if I was going for a top company I'd copy that list and take it with me.

There is one questioned I'd ask that's not on the list and that's how many drivers retire from your company. It's just an indicator that would tell me what kind of company it is.

That was great. I think I have found a good company see my post about Witte Bros in this area. They plan your route out before you leave so there is none of this drop your trailer and then wait for another load. I had an offer from schneider for more per mile but think I want a smaller company.

Thank you SO much for this... it will make me seem much more intelligent than I am... :biggrin_25523:

I have never done any trucking before, and should definitely help me be taken more seriously.

This is a great post/thread. I just wish I had seen it while still in school. I'm pretty well set up now, I guess, but it was a long hard road to get that way.

The question about how many folks retire from that company is a good one too.

    Turbo,

This is an excellent post! Although I'm still contemplating the trucking industry as a career, I'm going to print out your list of pre-employment questions and save it for when the time comes. You've done the forum and industry a great service.:occasion5:

Wow, Turbo. We really appreciate the time you took to put this list together. I made one of my own and thought it was pretty good but I guess I will toss mine and print out your list.

    Thanks,
