Thanks I found the post you were talking about
I saw you at roughly 0.90 all expenses including fuel
But that's at roughly 8.1 mpg all miles with the national avg of fuel at 4.12 I can't see you at 0.54 on fuel it's gotta be closer to 0.61 to 0.63 don't you agree .. Maybe those were a little older numbers but I can't help but think you have to be closer to 0.97 to 1.00 with fuel where it is
Maybe I'm wrong -
You running an APU on that truck
-
Is it a DEF truck ?

Why would someone even try to compare apples to oranges.
You have things that are not even a part of operating a truck.
Occ/Acc Insirance = .02cpm
Cell phone/Internet = .02cpm
Retirement = .02cpm
Medical insurance = .03cpm
In addition, as an accountant, I would not even consider a maintenance fund as an expense of operating. I only use actual expenses.
If you include such items, you might as well include food.

The .54 a mile is the total average since I started 1 year ago today. We do get a discount on fuel which averages about .25 a gallon. It does have a APU and does not use def.

I guess I look st this different the most of you do. In fact way different then most people in general. I just started with them so no numbers to show. But for me I had the cash and credit to buy a truck. Reason I went this way is simple. I've never owned or leased before I'm coming in blind and I felt it was a big risk to take purchasing a truck without knowing for sure I could make it. Also as a company driver I don't have enough experience to start at top pay and that does add to the equations.
You see if I made equal what I was or better I'm happy because in the end I own a truck and have more knowledge and experience to move on and make better pay. And yes I know the numbers well from reading all I could. If I just maintained a 6mpg average on fuel I'll make a little better then I did as company driver. If I can keep it higher I do better. So for the nay sayers you all agree some people couldn't run a truck if it was free no need to argue there. There are always going to be people wanting the easy in and expect to either get rich or only work 2 days a week. You can't stop them nor can you help them. -
i agree with you Kujo,if a l/p can bring home the same as a company driver or slightly less after all expenses at the end of it all you did buy a truck

Exactly you have a truck at the end plus you have more freedom during it to say no if you want. Last company job I had did not care one bit about getting you home when you wanted to be. That is one thing I really care about. If I take time off it is usually for a reason with a certain date and time I need to be there or I pick a date and then schedule things for that time. Doing this I absolutely will be there when I need to be and as long as I want. Plus I make a heck of a lot more money than a company driver and I own a truck at the end of it.
