Roehl needs a credit score of 500 to even qualify. Trying to get a bank loan for the private school route requires usually a 650 or better at min. to qualify. How many people have tried to get cdl training both ways and don't qualify? What might be a problem for me in getting a foot in the door is that fact that I have not bought a house or leased or financed a car in my life , neither do I have any credit cards(debit only). It seems this lack of credit is hampering me getting anywhere?:biggrin_25511:

Have you considered saving up the money and paying in cash instead? It may take you a year or two, but then you wouldn't owe anyone.

I paid for CDL school on my credit card, mind ya, but that's cause I was in the middle of a divorce, just lost my job, and had to do something FAST.

If you got the time and a job, save up money for a year or two and then go to CDL school. At the very least you could pay cash for half and get a loan for the rest. That's what I would have liked to do.

Check into local community colleges and other driving schools. You can also go through VR if you have a disability and qualify.

Check with the school itself, the most likely have some one that will handle"problem loans" just be ready to pay a higher interest rate. Have you checked out a local credit union? They may say yes when the banks are saying no.

Well at my present job and pay, it'll be near impossible to save up that kind of dough. Yeah, it would be better if I had the cash as I hate the thought of getting a loan but I just don't have the income that will make that feasible in 5 years let alone 1 or 2.

Yep, applied online to a credit union in my area that was recommended by Trainco truck school as the easiest option for problem loans but no response from them.
