Well then, who are all these companies you are talking about where entry level drivers with less than a year's experience can go to make all this money you are talking about?

Are you or would you be allowed to carry one on Mays truck in the chain box? What is their policy on that? If their okay with it that would be good. -
What big blues saying is true, I'm living it. But May is a great company to start with, gave this old dog a shot at a 2nd career. I've been a boss and owner in construction the last 30 yrs, now there is no construction. Got offered a job part time at Home Depot, minimum wage. At my age they say I'm over qualified. May gave me a shot, almost got a year in and then I can get a local job if I want, got 2 offers. Most of the drivers are great people, can't say that about some of the office people, but as long as their moneys good, for the moment thats fine. But since this threads about APUs I still want one!!!!!!

Your right I just came off 8 days off and been sitting since Friday 1100am, I did my pta Thu. I sat all weekend after coming off hometime.

My first two years at May I ran over 3k miles a week. Mind you, I stayed out on the road quite a bit by choice, I needed the income. I took a break last fall and drove for a company regionallyfor several mos and decided to come back to May and train again.
They compensate me handsomely, treat me really well, provide me with excellent equipment, get me home when I ask and provide me with lots of miles. I'm on pace for a 14 thousand mile March, and averaged over 12 thousand miles a month for Dec, Jan & Feb.
There's probably many others that do better here and at other companys. However, for still being relatively new to this industry, I'd say May is providing a pretty good gig for me.Last edited: Mar 19, 2012

Can anyone tell me if May would allow you to carry a small portable generator like this(see above link) on their truck? It would be nice to have some power without having to idle. -
Probably would depend on the weight of the unit. Most companies will not allow for the extra weight when calculating gross weight. Might cause you an over weight ticket if you get a heavy load. Ask them if you can.
