On my 379 it is stamped with dots that make out the vin #. Just connect the dots. It can be hard to read as the dots are small and when they paint the frame it can fill the dots and make it hard to read.

The VIN 89251N is the complete VIN for your year model 359. The N is no mistake as it indicates the truck was produced in the Nashville TN plant. The VIN is short due to there weren't that many produced at that time. Any Peterbilt parts department can tell you original equipment list of the truck and the original owner from microfish film using your VIN #. I worked at a Pete dealer when your truck was built back in 77.

With the chrome factory shift knob? Every one of those I handled back in those year/models chattered till you couldn't hear yo'self think. I had to cut my shift pole in two and re-install it with an isolating rubber splice to quiet it down. Ahhh, those were the days. Good luck on that Ol Pete, Vinny. Wish I still had one.

Sounds like mystery solved and I learned something too. Never knew there were short vin's like that.

I put this VIN in on ECAT, and is coming up as invalid. To help out, I just opened a SupportNet ticket. All VIN's should be available through the ECAT portal, but this particular VIN will not come up.

UPDATE: I'm a bit slow sometimes....removed the "N" and the chassis came right up. Vinny check your PM's in a few mins. J

if it hasn't already been posted here (I looked but am known to make mistakes, from time to time), I noticed that is not a factory 359 sleeper. all the 359's that had 63 inch sleepers had the big "#####" door on the passenger side-even the few standups that are out there, so it is a 359 with a 379 sleeper.....

sure looks cool though, I'd love to see ya runnin' the roads up here, dont see many 359ers around any more.
