They ask you a question, if your reply is."huh or what" then they look in to hearing a little deeper.

    All empty miles paid.

    thanks man.

i have been around trucks or associated with trucks my whole life.my dad was a driver for 40 years and i worked at yellow for 24 but i was ok with working the dock even tho yellow would have trained me for free, i guess i wasnt thrilled with the idea of driving city since you dont have a choice if they need you to drive city. my terminal just had shuttle drivers also, no OTR. but it did pay 24 an hour with full benefits like fully paid medical but i made the same working the dock.

but since moving to Pa. there are no jobs, and even if you get one it is 10 an hour. so what started all my thinking about driving was a cre commercial. im nervous as heck. i did do a full online practice test with like 300 question and only missed 10 question and didnt study for it at all. but things like parallel parking freaks me out a little thinking about it and the shifting.

    thanks for answering my questions.

    Hey Bandaid,

Yeah i was up there, but came back home due to some kinda flu/virus. left on friday after having a 101 fever for three days. talked to dave in training about it cause i was really worried about being able to come back. he said to get home, get on a antibiotic sandwich and get in touch with my recruiter when doc clears me.

seeing the doc today dunno if he will clear me for this thursday or next. the way i'm feeling right now i'm betting for next thursday. (now on 6 days with a fever.)

as for the school, from what i saw, it was fast paced but if you had any questions, the instructors were right there to help ya out. I was amazed though re the number of people failing to follow rule #1. "follow directions."

last week there were guys that came in via bus from, Georgia, Cali, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. from what they said, keep an eye on how much luggage ya bring, or be ready to pay some extra.

some said they had wifi on the bus while others did not. they all recommended, a mp3 player and headphones played LOUD.

i just read that at the DPS driving test they dont make you do a physical pretrip, is this true?

"Those are what I used to fail anybody. Practice your pretrip because they will test you on that too.
If you get your CDL in Texas and do just a paper pretrip, try and do a physical pretrip as well. "
