1. No matter what you do, it will sound horrible and run hot using it as is. Think of it like running your car with the distributor turned 45% off set time.
2. Yes, you can actually run this off of power poles or even a decent 15a lighter outlet.

PJ1 Electronics in Montgomery Al. just tuned my Connex and i couldnt be happier with the results. Hes located upstairs at the TA off exit 168, i think??? Anyway this ole guy has been working with radios for 40+ years. Military background working on them as well. Good luck!

I actually know him. He's the guy that introduced me to radios and taught me everything I knew until I started posting here on the forum. He is a great guy and definitely knows his stuff. Never had any work done by him though.

HAMMIES
I didn't know you need a ticket to be a HAMMIE
-
what some call a 1:4 ratio on the radio and amp setup
say if you have a amp that will swing 1000 watts
you need to set the radio up to where when you deadkey the radio with the amp on then the amp only deadkeys 250 watts
so you will have the 250 watt deadkey and modulate to 1000 watts
like Rolling said you will sound like a guy talking thru a sock or really pinched up and with them metal oxide ferrites wont last long
so you have to keep that deadkey on the radio way down
into the .5 to .75 watt range deadkey
good luck on your install -
"Hammies" you guy's are killing me.
