Just wondering what everone is out and about doing?? Driving...wrenching...resting...whatever...

Seems there are normally 280-320 folks on this forum at any given time...but you don't hear from many...what are all of you doing out there?? What have you done today??

I was in a dry (and glad of it) shop all day. Cutting mounting pads and brake equip off an old Dana axle. Got it all cut off and cleaned up with my trusty 6" 40grit wheel...MAN those are sooo much nicer than rock wheels. :biggrin_255: After I got that done...I took an axle out from under a trailer that had the spindles and spider messed up last time someone worked on it. Found it during a routine wheel seal change. Decided to send it off and put the one I had been working on under it. Got it a dismantled and cut out...then pushed the good one under it. Got it squared and tacked on...then put the ubolts in and tighted them...welded pad to axle...then squared and welded the cam bushing holders on...cams are nice and free now...they were binding on the old one due to the spider being bent. Fixing to put air bags on and weld brake pod brackets on but needed to get home...will wait till tomorrow. All in all it was a good day...wasn't working in the rain...which is always good. Will finish in the morning...sure they'll be something waiting on me after that...lol.

Ok...what did everyone else do today?

    Well, let's see.

Got up, always a challenge. Heck, even managed to get dressed!

Went to work. Assisted in hand unloading a 1145 piece truck. So far, average.

Got home, did some yard work.

Did my schoolwork. Wrote a three page essay on the events of 9/11 for a Fundamentals of Writing course I have to take.

Conquered Ireland, Scotland, and a good portion of France. (Medieval II Total War ROCKS!)

Oh yeah, check into the forum, and wrote this!

    Slow day, all in all.

Oh, and spent about an hour outside plinking targets with my little BB gun...cause a guy has to relax ONCE in awhile, right?:biggrin_2559:

The poor, poor comma. Some, people, overuse, it,. And some people completely and totally ignore it.

Oh yeah, periods are nice, too. Makes it much easier to read a sentence, with a single thought, instead of whatever this is.

1st - Got my son started on his home schooling.
2nd - had customer waiting for me to check his truck out. He had one bad injector and one weak injector so I removed those and replaced them. 60 series in a classic (Easy) : ) Fixed an air leak on it that I heard when I backed it out of the shop.
3rd - Replaced a mounting gasket on a Mack for the air compressor
4th - Troubleshot a FRO transmission my brother took out and found the synchro was shot. Removed the back off of another trans to see if that one was ok but it was not so installing new synchro.
    5th - brake adjustment on a truck
6th - came home and cut grass then ate supper and now I am browsing while I look over my son's school work.

On Saturday I picked up a Honda EU3000is generator and a portable AC unit to use until I get the rooftop unit. Got the ac unit a home where it is secure.
Sunday was brackets/shelf/cover day. Got it all mounted up secure enough that I can jump on the brackets and support shelf and it doesn't move. Can change the oil and get to the pull starter if needed. Generator is a little higher on the frame rail than my boxes, allowing easier access to the underside of the truck.
Monday, removed it all, painted everything, made a door, and got it all buttoned up so to speak.
Left home Monday afternoon after the kids got home from school, then headed up to Cat in Aurora,Il.
Today, loaded a 966K in Aurora and am currently parked in Nevada,Mo.
And thankfully the "spelling and grammar police" aren't around to be picky anymore..... Thank you Bullhaulerswife!

For what it's worth, I would rather deal with a true mechanic than the all too common parts swappers around these days. My hat goes off to you Sir.:biggrin_25514:
