When I was doing a lot of automobile driving I brought a REAL bicycle for excellent, interesting exercise to counter sitting so much.
Always wear a backpack with a few necessities inside and storage for groceries, garage sale finds, etc.

You must maintain a "Home addres" to be able to deduct your meals. A tax free state is best to "call home" Look into the IRS restrictions and do what you can get away with. Good luck, sombody has to do it, im retireing.

When I was a rookie, you had to BEG for hometime.

If I were in your shoes, I'd follow STexan's advice. Buy a nice travel trailer, and park it in a long-term lot at a RV park near your "home terminal." The upside to this is that you get to choose which terminal will be your home terminal.

Your idea about it being in an income tax-free state is a good one. I know that Texas, Florida, and Tennessee have no state income tax. You might talk to a compentent financial professional, as there may be tax advantages that come with owning that travel trailer, since you'll be using it as your domicile. FYI, Amarillo has a very low cost of living (and great weather), is located along I-40, and is located in a state with no state income tax.

But trust me when I tell you that you need to have a place to call home that isn't on 18 wheels - there will come a time when you're going to want to walk away from that truck for awhile.
