Laptop can get wifi on the truck anywhere or in truck stops?
I have a pre-hire and going to Arkansa for 2 weeks and then NC for a week, then on the rd for 27 days to finish training. then I get my own truck.
How is driving an automatic trans?
How is the money, can you make 1200 a week? -
How do you shift your auto to save fuel? what is the process or what are you watching RPM's or Speed?

Driving the autos is a cake walk once you figure it out, and there is no trick to learning that. The money at maverick is not bad. $1200 a week is not likely, but it depends on what your needs are. If you go home each weekend then your going to make less, also it depends on how you set up your benefits and taxes. I had alot of the benefits (Insurance/disabitliy/ect.) and i was paying over $550 a month. Plus i had child support coming out which was $700 a mo. and taxes... my average "takehome" was around $550 to $650 a week. That was running 2100 miles or better a week and going home on the weekends. You can do better or worse.

Does The temp controlled folks at Maverick do the "LTL" or is it one destination ?
Also, is it live unload or is it no touch freight ?
Thank you for your inside scoop.

I been trying to gather informaion about driving schools to obtain my cdl license. I live in jacksonville NC and FFE driving academy in Texas approved me but they have tons of negative from the foreum I've read. Anyone have details about mavericks school and do they have dorms? Also, will they provide bus accomdations to there facility if you live out of state.

What was negative said by FFE? If been reading a lot about Maverick and haven't seen anything that bad. Are you sure they are not being bias for the money? Do tell!

Maverick doesnt run a cdl school, sorry. We did at one time but unless something recently changed they dont. They do however hire right out of cdl school and put you with a trainer.

To answer your question about shifting, Rubber Duckyy, there is a switch on the paddle (right side underneath the steering wheel) on which you can select Manual or Automatic. I was taught by Sarge how to properly shift the truck using Manual. Its really no different than using a stick-shift and clutch, there is just no clutch! Keep the RPMS where they should be, and watch your MPG average just keep on climbing!
