Does anyone run a scanner in their truck?
If so, what is a good mobile scanner antenna? I've looked at CB shops and truck stops with no luck.
I realize that scanning may be a hit-or-miss deal for you OTR folks, but I run the same areas of South Texas all the time. I'd like to put my Uniden BCT8 in the truck so I can hear the law enforcement frequencies and the weather bands.

You better check the laws where you run. Scanners with law enforcement frequencies are illegal in most states. NY in particulat you can't even have one in the vehicle regardless of which frequencies you listen to.
Having that antennea will point at you real loud. -
I got mine in a truck stop. Does't pick up CB freq. as far out as the real CB does, but works better than the one that came with the radio.
It's just a short wire, maybe 16 " tall. -
The aw HERE in Florida is you cannot have police frequencies in a scanner UNLESS you work for a agency or you are a licensed HAM .
Do they enforce it .....
In almost 20 years of working for law enforcement agencies I have seen 2 people ticked for them .....
Also remember many agencies are going digital and many trunking scanners made back 10 years ago or more don''t work with rebanding
TRUNKING systemms fall into 3 basic types EDACS ( GE ) Motorola and Johnson most scanners will work with them ....
Texas from what i found has few scanner laws .... -
