1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Over the past 19yrs of accident free driving in 17 different countries, I can attest to the FACT that these rookies are being taught to drive by other rookies or total idiots.
Raise the training standards, raise the driver standards. Simple as that.
Swift, CR, etc etc etc, will let guys be a trainer after a whopping 6 months of experience in most cases. That is nothing but short sighted greed and ignorance IMHO.
I try to give the newbies a break whenever possible, and they dont act like they know it all of course. Now the idiots that teach them to back into truck stop parking spots are the ones I will let my German Shepherd at. How can you teach someone else when you don't have the slightest idea yourself?

Very true, but what are they going to pay them
when they only pay experienced drivers .34 cpm

    I was making .34 CPM in 1996....

Back then gas was I think .98 cents per gallon, food was 1/3 the price it is now, my rent was 475.00 a month, cable was 30.00
Cost of living has gone up, yet pay in the trucking industry hasn't...
Then everyone scratches their heads as to why we see more and more people out here that shouldn't be driving a car let alone a 80k lb truck...

Its forced all the good drivers to go O/O and fail cause they can't compete with these bottom feeding mega carriers.....

The only way this will ever improve is if ALL trucks shut down, and you all know that will NEVER happen....

well you start out at .26 then got to 29 in 3 months then 31 at your 6 month mark. Then you go to 33 cents 3 months after that.

I am not going to argue about the wages are below the industry standard.

You have to start some were. Here in upstate New York I'm finding out you need 2+ years of driving experience, or they do not even look at you. Pay starts at .30 and up.
Not an easy place to find a trucking job.

I think he made a mistake. There is a section farther down the page for jokes. That is where he should have posted his original post. But I do have to give him some credit for knowing that there is a sucker born every minute.:biggrin_2559:

I think everyone wondered why, as the OP, you even posted this hiring announcement.

You acted like Swift is doing everyone a big favor. Sure they probably are hiring 200 more drivers. They need to replace the 200 that left last week.

Even for a new driver, .26 cpm is garbage. I can't believe people are that desperate to accept such an insult as that. Those wages are 20 years behind the times.
