Can I expect my 8th day hours to drop off and come back available for me on the 9th day? As of this moment, I only have 2 hours available but am working on a 34 hour restart. My truck has the elog system.

 

Yes on the 9th day your hours from day 8 or day 1 in this case will add back onto your logs. I just worked 22 days and had no 34 hour resets. Doing all my loads on the hours I had plus what id get back.

The off duty driving provision is up to your company but the general guidelines state that you must be unladen and must not be advancing yourself toward the shipper or receiver.

 

I wouldn't go as far as to say the provision is up to your company....it is legaly allowed....your company may have policy against you using their truck off duty thou.

 

True, such as if im on a 34 i cant use off duty driving and use the truck for personal use. Although, if im on my way home bobtailing i can use off duty driving.

 

So then, technically, if you run out of hours, and your @ a truck stop 3 hours from home.. you could just drop the trailer and cruise home?
