It's alot of work changing out harnesses and some connectors you'll have to adapt. I hope you are good at reading wiring schematics! But it can be done.

Like TM said, a wreck will give you everything you need and save you money. It's alot easier buying another truck.

Its not as bad as everyone here leads you to believe.

Theres a harness you can buy for about a grand, and all youll have to wire up other than that are your jake brake and your cruise control.

Ive got a couple friends that have done similair swaps up here north of the border.

It's not that hard at all its just all the small brackets and such buy the whole truck you get motor harness and all then you can sell the rest and hopefully break even

So buy a $40,000 truck for a $1,000 harness and a few brackets? Which brackets are different?

Front motor mount bracket rear motor mount brackets fan hubs diffrent strut rod bracket then you need the throttle pedal assy the intake from tube air cleaner assy power steering resevor a/c brackets you can make most of this work on your own if you can fabricate who said spend 40 grand the last truck I swapped elect motor in he paid 17 grand and got the 18 speed low leaf and nice wheels if he dosent have a motor he's gonna spend 6-10 from one of these salvage yards for a used engine if he bought a wrecked truck and only used the engine he can part the rest out and scrap what's left its just myopinion any ways and its not just wiring in jakes and cruise seeing as its all controlled by the ecm you still have data link and other things to wire in cat changed a lot from a,b,c to the e model and c15

This conversion is as easy as it gets. You will want to reuse the front motor mount off of the b-model. You need to look at the flywheel housing on the 6nz and see if it has the vertical mounting pads for the motor mounts or, the sloped pads (paccar flywheel housing). With the vertical mounts you can reuse your current motor mounts and if the 6nz has the paccar housing, you can buy a set of newer pete motor mounts from peterbilt that will bolt on for a direct conversion no fabwork required! I'm assuming you have the radiator with the support running to the engine instead of to the firewall. The brackets to fit the 6nz are available from peterbilt or a junkyard to retain this setup. Or, a real easy way to go is just to convert the supports over to a 389 style radiator support rods. (side of rad frame down to frame rails). If you reuse the radiator assy, you will have to fab both ataac pipes to jump from 4" to 4-1/2" where they meet up at the ataac. All of the brackets are readily available to retain your current a/c compressor or may even be swapable depending on what the donor engine has already. The intake piping and the exhaust will work provided that both engines have the same turbo mounting height. My recommendation is to install a 389 style powersteering resevoir. They make for a clean factory install and look. The wiring is the easiest part. With a schematic you can make your own harness or gut a junkyard harness. Hope this helps some.
