    this is no joke i was struggling with my backing manuvers while in school and i went and got a toy semi and parcticed on the kitchen table. salt and pepper shakers as cones. i passed my test the following try

    Yup, I used to practise with a toy truck too...
    Also find that playing around with a pallet jack is about as close as you will get to driving a truck too... so playing around with one of them is often useful for the spatial reaction of a trailer if pushed in one or the other direction!

    It took me 3 tries on the alley dock before I finally passed it. It seems the more I practiced just prior to the test, the worse I got. When I finally got it, I did it cold turkey with no practice and with a different rig. Idaho has a 3 day waiting period between tests when you fail. After all the attempts, I still ended up just squeaking by. It is much harder than it looks.
