Seeing if anyone here is doing JBH power only?
And do they have runs you can be within 250 radius?
Reason I'm looking at 250 radius is it could be done in a day cab.

There's a few other threads on this program. I doubt it because I do know they want you to commit 10-12 days at a time with them.

They say they'll let you run however you want, but you'll likely run short on miles, and high on deadhead costs in a daycab. They prefer you stay out 11 days or so, so they might not be happy to entertain the idea, but you never know what they might be able to work out until you get on the phone with them.

They sent me a letter with all the details. It said something to the effect of you can do their power only program on-and-off whenever you want but they were looking for 10-12 days at a time and when that time is up you do you your own thing until you call them again.

Could be different where you live too, but other people have told me they were told the same thing regarding the 10-12 day commitment.

    Give 'em a call.

What is the benefit of doing the power only deal? I know you have your own authority but wouldn't an o/o be better off having his/her own trailer and being totally independent? If jb wants you to stay out 10-12 days then you might as well be leased to them. Jmo

What I'm possibly looking at is a company has a daycab for sell and the miles are low cause it wasn't used often and price is low.
I was thinking maybe a short haul truck.

Its used as a gap filler. I'm using it as a stepping stone between company driver and independent O/O. If all goes well, it'll pay for my first trailer. Also, they work with brand spanking new MC numbers, so you can age it a bit with them to help open up your options once you're done. For instance, JB Hunt requires MC numbers to be at least one year old before they are allowed to pull loads from their load board; however, stay out with them on the power only program for one full round, and you are approved to pull from their load board no matter how new your MC number is.

Also, so long as you don't violate their non-compete clause, while they've got you sitting in an industrial park, you can walk around shaking hands and handing out business cards looking for direct contract work with potential future customers.
