I have been running a W900L with 244" wb and KW 8 bag suspension for the last few months and it is rougher than any truck I have ever driven with airbags loaded or empty. My regular truck is a T800 with same wb and neway suspension and it is the smoothest truck I have ever drove.
My big question is why is the 8 bag so #### rough?
Is there a KW 8 bag suspension that isn't rough?

Mine's not rough at all....265" W/B, probably makes a difference.

AG-100, AG-200, or AG-400? Have you ever changed the shocks, and is the ride height right? All can have an effect on the ride. The brand of tires can make a very big difference also.

Take the air out 4 bags, plug the line's and you'll have an air ride like the peterbuilt's 4 air bag suspension and the smoothest ride you can imagine.........

Try rebushing the rear suspension AG-400 wears out about every 500,000 mi. less if extreme duty or a little off road

My dad usually had 3-5 trucks, and drove himself. He was not loyal to any one brand, preferring fairly new, and a "deal". His favorites were Petes with the low leaf air, and Volvo, both for among other things their excellent ride. While he was not a big KW fan, he often claimed that my 1996 W900 Aerocab (265" wb and AG 100) was one of the best riding trucks he had ever driven. When I traded that truck for a 2001 W900 (265" with a modular sleeper and AG 200 that was upgraded to AG 400 by Tulsa KW) my ride went from a dream, to a nightmare! Later, I traded for a 2004 W900 Aerocab (also 265" and AG 400), the ride was improved, but by NO means good! I had checked my airbag height two different times, when I replaced the leveling valve, ( apparently my mistake both times was to unknowingly use the measurements of trucks that were not at the factory settings). Last October, I traded for a 2007 T800, 234" wb, and yes AG 400; VOILA' my dream ride is almost back!!!!!!!!!! Hard to believe, 31" shorter, same suspension, much better ride! Don't get me wrong, the T800 has that bouncy, choppy ride short wheelbase trucks are known for, but is NOT that bone jarring ride the two previous trucks had. Based on my personal experiences, I firmly believe that my bad rides were due to altering the factory settings. Both owners of the trucks that I had used their measurements stated that they had not changed their settings, I think that perhaps it was done without their knowledge, or two identical trucks may need to be adjusted slightly different.
Going back to my last truck trade, whenever I had parked at the KW dealer, my W900 was parked alongside of the T800 I eventually purchased. After looking at my potential trade, the salesman, a very knowledgeable guy, asked me about the W900's ride, commenting that the airbags were overinflated IHO. While I could see a difference in the bag height, it did not appear to be that much of a difference. Comparing rides, a little difference in height must equate to a big difference in ride; made a believer out of me!
I am hoping to replace the steer axle suspension with the new AG air suspension for added ride improvement, as soon as $$$ permits.
Ride improvement, engine mods, higher fuel prices, lions, tigers, bears, oh my!!! -
we have a older t600 with the 8 bag best rideing truck we have
-
Droy, do you know where you'd measure the height on the T-800 with ag 400 to make sure it's set properly. tks
-
Out of all the 8 bag suspensions the ag100 rides the best. Really nice even empty.

On the 100 the measurment is from bottom of frame rail to top of pedestal. Call KW and they can tell you for the 400
