Western Express has its pros and cons and being that the cons are in the department of lying to DAC, government officials and to lawyer's and their cons are seemingly accepted and known behavior by those listed above. Western Express seemingly has very strong legal connections that enable them to mistreat and lie about their employees and get away with such employee false discriminating acts. They are also known to lie to drivers per QUALCOMM msgs telling them they are due for services and other things so that the drivers can be way laid by dot and fired on the spot by management when they pull into the wsxi terminals where they have invited DOT to set up shop for the day. some how the driver managers and other management are left untouched by dot for their many crafty ways of forcing drivers to drive past their hos. wsxi seemingly has a huge influence in the legal system that allows them to abuse their employees. To keep things fair Wsxi is known for helping drivers to get home for Family emergencies they helped me a few times to include telling me I can drive the truck almost 600 miles and I would only have to pay half the cost, after I said I would pay 100% of the cost. When it came time for me to meet this obligation they took no money. But 1.5 years before I was 75 miles from home when I got a call from my x-girlfriend stating our daughter had respiratory failure and is in rout to hospital to be admitted and I would be needed, after doctors called wsxi to confirm, I was told if I was going to go home for this I would have to clean out my truck and find my own way home. And I did and was re-hired about 8 months later. But as hard as that was for me to go through to get home to help my x and my daughter it was a fluke cause they are not normally like that and dont think they would do such a thing ever again. However I dont recommend any driver to work them nor any company to hire western express to haul their freight as they are supporting a company that takes part in doing harmful actions against their own employees/ x employees and their employees familys and seemingly have enough pull power and influence in the legal system to get away with damaging people the way that they do. Being that they have or had an x dot officer as a safety program manager at the Nashville terminal who gives a very good orientation speech has a lot of good information, however both times I listened to his speech he says he used to be a dot officer and was some one drivers had to fear but that is no longer the case as he is now employed by western express and he is on the drivers side now. Lol I I didnt ever now it was dot against the drivers I thought it was DOT helping the drivers defend themselves against being forced to drive tired and drive broke and unsafe trucks but hey its cat and mouse game but its now a bit unfair when the mouse is just the driver and not the driver and the company. STAY AWAY FROM WESTERN EXPRESS ITS A VERY SCARY SITUATION THEIR. A LOT OF THINGS DONT ADD UP TO ANYTHING GOOD FOR A DRIVER.
If you need any supporting documents to confirm my review just let me know.

You would need several million dollars to defend your self from western express they would rather pay big lawyers to screw their employees/x-employees and their family's rather then pay their drivers and their Family's a fair wage. I recently ha dealings with a Family court honorable who was reluctant to stand up against them and disrespected my children with his ruling in that he chose the lie of that company over the truth being told by the father.Unemployment check was $250.00 I got 95.00 my children got the rest minus taxes. The judge ruled that the father was at fault for misconduct in that he failed a random drug test. ( father never failed a drug test in his life and the failed drug test lie was listed at the bottom of several other lies, stating I quit my job, I was fired ect out right lies contradicting themselves stapled together page by page clear smack in the face we lie courts don't care we are the multi million dollar company we will win always. Lol The truth I was fired for refusing to log into the eobr and have myself and Family responsible for violations beyond my control and requested some changes to be made to minimize such risk to my family and self as well as the general public's life's that I have in my hands while I am driving A truck to earn a living for my Family. All of this conversation is on the QUALCOMM still My Family and I loose, Big company big government entities in the transportation department and courts so yea it's a bad company to work for and to ship your freight on if you do not wish to support the way they treat their drivers. I have been scared to speak out cause of what risks there are going up against such an operation, but I found out I haven't much longer to live so they really cant do much to me know or for very long. They are very disrespectful to drivers and American Values and to the soldiers and others who sacrificed for America.

What is the motel like that Western Express puts their drivers up in during orientation in Nashville? Do they send all new hires out with a trainer...even those with years of experience? I have a friend who lives in Nashville and I could stay there, but if WE is paying for a decent motel, that would work better. Do they pick you up at the motel and take you back after orientation or are we on our own? Thanks!

you get a ride back and forth from hotel in a company van,not a great place but not a dump.ask if you dont stay in motel if they compensate you,but if you quit in 6 months wont have to repay hotel fees.my question is why these guys.pay for drivers services, good luck getting empty out of shop and home on time.enjoy the northeast if doing vans

Yeah something just don't add up with Western. My baby bro is set to go to Nashville. I wish I could had got him on with my company. But being he only had 2 months otr, and 2 minor prevent's(whoa) Western was the only company that would really touch him. His recruiter a guy named Steve or Stevie, told him 2 days orientation, 2 days load securement @ $50.00 a day. Then he will be out on the road with a trainer 1 - 2 weeks. Training pay is $375.00 weekly minus $200.00 training cost
. WTF? Im glad I never made that jump over.

i just quit western express i have been driveing truck for a long time and this is by far the worst company i have ever seen. if you are a new driver they will send you with a trainer and you WILL drive all the miles and they still will only pay you like 100 a week cause they charge you 200 a week and say its to pay for your training. last i heard most companies will not charge you like that. they will also tell you to go ahead and pull over wieght loads and yes they will pay the ticket if you get one, butwell its your licince that gets ruined not theirs. also you have no choice of routeing your self. even if you take a shorter route then what they give you they will charge you a dollar a mile for every mile that you didnt take their route suggestion. run away from them driver RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get what all the complaining is about. I've been with Western Express for a month now. Orientation went very smoothly, everyone was cool even the instructors and safety people...they don't have enough trainers right now so my group get extended load securement training at the facility instead of going out with a trainer truck. I have had zero issues with this company so far. Everyone has been very cooperative, my dispatcher is a cool dude, got me home exactly when I asked him to for an appointment which had been set prior to applying with Western. He keeps me moving...this is the first weekend I sat for more then just overnight and that's because the consignee of this load was closed for Easter, which is in no way Western's or my dispatcher's fault.
The only real compaint I have is that the truck they assigned to me is kind of a POS...but they're still in the process of upgrading their fleet so not everyone is gonna get a brand new truck right off the bat. Yes, as the above poster mentioned, you get charged for out of route miles, but only after a certain point. For example, I drive a total of 20-something miles out of route to have dinner at my favorite restaurant, they aren't gonna charge me for that. However, I drive over 300 miles out of route to visit a friend, yeah they will. I would do the same thing if I was them, because at the end of the day thats the company's fuel not yours. They have software which calculates the most direct and fuel efficient route and also the lowest price per gallon fuel stops, and they expect drivers to follow that route to help cut down on their fuel costs. This is not unreasonable.
Last company i drove for was Werner, where everything had a very stiff, corporate kind of feel to it. Its hard to describe, but the general feeling of the air with Western is much more laid back and relaxed.
Bottom line, about a month in with Western Express, I have no major complaints. They keep me moving, my dispatcher is cooperative, and overall the general environment is a lot more relaxed. -
