    Okay,

    Sitting for test tomorrow, thanks Danny for the advice concerning that.

    Whew, lots of stuff to get done and trying to do it quickly. Sent off everything for the LLC, should get that back from the secretary of state this week and then send off for tax ID number, then establish bank account.

    I am having my tractor/trailor/forklift in both my name of course but that of the company so my business will start to develop credit.

    Between studying for my test, trying to round up all the equipement, speaking with the mud company, and figuring out how to get my US-DOT and MC squared away, I feel like I could use a vacation :biggrin_2559: J/K.

    Okay, where I am stumped. I am testing for my CDL A, with endorsements for tractor/trailer, airbrakes, and Hazmat. But when trying to set up my authority, I am asked if I haul Hazmat on a regular basis.

    Here's the deal, the drilling mud is not hazardous for the most part it is just mined earth. Now there may be at times where I am transporting a mud that can be considered hazmat, according to the mud company, so just to be safe I need it.

    I just am not sure if If there is a difference when attaining your own authority if you should consider yourself a "hazmat transporter".

    This is where getting up and going get stressful to me. I will do it, it will just take some more perseverance considering I am doing this on my own.

    I was called today by my buddy at the mud company and was pleased to know he and the others are excited to get this going, Heck, I am excited. Already being told I need to hire another driver once I get this immediate area covered.

    If you all can discern anything I just wrote, then all help is muchly appreciated.

    I would leave the hazmat alone...its gonna cost you a lot more insurance wise and starting out if it is only a small % of whats available I would pass it along to the other company until you grow and take a bigger piece of the pie.

    Dont forget when you get your equipment and class A you need to make sure you know how to parallel park, I got my license in TX and if i remember you had to be no more than 10 inches from the curb, but of course that was 15 years ago and things change

    Thank you bud.

    Just got off the phone with the company to confirm status on HAZMAT loads for certainty. I was informed that I must have it, because every well being drilled will need to have pallets of a certain type of mud called "caustic phos" or something along those lines. They dont use it during the majority of drilling the well but more so at the beginning, and he encouraged me strongly to have it so I can be more versatile within the company.

    I got my insurance quote back today, 8600 for the year. That was without adding on the hazmat, so I will see what that will be tomorrow. Have another quote coming in soon.

    As far as the backing, that sounds right. I am just taking the written tomorrow, should be getting the truck at the end of this week.

    Just alittle update;

    Took the written test this morning; air brakes, general, tankers, pre inspection, and combination. Fortunately I passed them. Was informed that I can not take the HAZMAT endorsement until I get my CDL, ignorance on my part.

    Got the LLC established this morning, filing for tax ID and setting up bank account tonight and tommorrow.

    Thank you all for your help, and special thanks to Danny.

    Looks like the wheels are rolling. Keep your chin up. The paperwork and regs can be a hassle but well worth it in the longrun

    Okay guys;

    A little update:

    I have my LLC,

    I have my EIN,

    I have my Business bank account setup,

    I have my US-DOT,

    Submitted my app for my TX-DMV number (used to be a TX-DOT #, but since has changed to TX-DMV #) and checked on it this morning, informed they will process it this afternoon.

    I am getting insurance through Progressive for my first driver and truck and general liability for our forklift.

    I have joined a Drug Consortium.

    I have learned a lot in the last 3 weeks from knowing nothing about starting a truck business, and I still have a lot to learn.

    Been informed that I need to get a second truck on board as fast as I can, the mud company will be picking up 7 more rigs this week.

    The Ceo also asked me if I wanted to make more, obtain a GEN pole truck to move tanks around on the rig. LOl, guess I need to learn about that also.

    I still have a ways to go to be spot on with DOT if and when I get inspected. I have a few people I can hire once we start making some capital, they charge 450/day to come and get you organized and make sure all your equipment and personal are up to date on everything.

    Excited, a little nervous, but praise to God for this opportunity.

    Danny and I will be starting here in the next two weeks.
