Thanks for the link. After talking to one of my pards about this today we've remembered the fairly windy road that it would take to get back there. Taking into account that we'd actually only be able to process about 5000 gallons a day we switched gears and I've been looking at stuff more like this.

For 38k plus diesel plus insurance plus me getting a CL I think I may have found the sweet spot to all this. My buddy made a fine point that we'd never actually be able to get a long trailer back past these backroads and we couldn't process as much water as a full tanker would hold anyway. I get down in the weeds. He pulls me out.![]()

Are you looking at 5 gallon home and business delivery, 16 and 20oz store delivery, or trailer load sales to big companies?
Another thing to think about is bulk delivery of water to other bottling companies. Places that are bottling filotered water many times want to get into spring water and will pay for it to be delivered, or you can replace an existing supplier if your product test out better and has a good taste.
Most of what I did was bulk delivery to a competitor about 100 miles away that didn't have access to spring water.Vanir23 Thanks this. -
Both, we definitely want to start our own brand serving 5 gallon home and business as well as the smaller portable sizes but will be able to do private label as well with custom bottles since we'll be blowing our own. Selling bulk water is also open. The main thing I've learned thus far is don't compete directly with Nestle if you can at all help it!

The place I pulled from was off a small paved road in somewhat hilly country, then you turned onto a dirt road to get to the spring about a mile in.

I just wish the water had a higher mineral concentration. It's all out of Limestone bedrock so it's extremely well filtered (probably for about 800 miles from the Great Lakes) but it doesn't have enough Calcium in it to call it mineral water.

5 gallon is a very labor intensive operation. You also have to run accounts with businesses and some homes that may or may not pay in 30 days. If you take time to collect every stop the amount delivered daily gets cut back. Another thing is it takes a very strong person to load, unload, and reload their truck daily. Lots of workers comp claims for backs and shoulders. Drivers usually don't last very long unless they are into body building and do it to keep in shape while getting paid.

You can add your own calcium. Bottled water is not very regulated.

The water might be an exempt commodity and if he's hauling his own goods, he could possibly get a farm plate and operate without needing any authority whatsoever (with lots of caveats).
Vanir23 Thanks this. -
Actually, FDA specifically says that if you do this you cannot call it mineral water which is to say I'd already considered fudging

Good thought and definitely something to check into. You guys are great, really.
