I know some truck drivers from the local bar that smoke marijuana and some are meth heads. How the hell do they get around drug tests when companies hire them? aren't the drug tests the hardest for trucking jobs??? Just curious

Generally they know in advance when they are going in for a company drug test. The company will call and say, hey we need you in here for a drug test on tuesday, can you......

    Just kidding
    I really have no Idea.
They either think they have a system, or think they won't get caught.
    Usually it's the latter.

theres ways around drug tests, i don't care if a trucker smokes weed, unless he is working, if he is on home time and has a joint or 2 and doesn't go back to work for a week it doesn't bother me but i grew up around it and i know the effects don't last that long.... and its not the same as Cigeretts they can stop for long period's of time just like my brother does with out "jonsing" for another joint...

how ever 1 way around them for men is a Fake ##### attachment my brother says it works great for him it comes with warmers to keep the urine warm when u go to do the test and everything, thats just 1 way there are tons of tricks to get around them, i had friends in the army who were Air Traffic Controllers who got high on the weekend and when we went for a urinalyses never tested positive, they would pour a cap full of bleach into their canteen's and drink about 3-5 gallons of water that way and never came up positive

The drivers you are referring to, are local drivers. Although they may run out regional. I say this because you state plainly you know some drivers that hang at the local bar.

Many local drivers are with small outfits with 10 or less employees. They are subject to the same rules, per se. But, they are most likely given a heads up long before the test. Some may be Owner Ops operating under their own authority, that only have to submit a test at a time of their own choosing.

The only time they will be caught, at an accident scene.

Many of the larger companies adhere to the rules of random to the letter. I spent 6 weeks straight submitting samples every Monday. I didn't feel very random after the 3rd test myself.

Drivers like that are not Professional and when a accident occurs it only puts more bad light on those of us who are Professional's. If i drive at night and spot an 4-wheeler who may have had a little too much I call it in. You may be saving a life down the road...

All I know is it drives me crazy to see people drinking/drugging behind any wheel, but more so behind an 18 wheeler. I call in drivers that are all over the road

I do the same ... but its sad 1 night about 2 years ago me and 3 other truckers were on 16 headed towards I-95 in GA, and this one trucker was all over the road we were about 45 miles from I-95 and one guy got beside him and motioned for the CB and the driver wouldn't pay attention, then we tried to box him in and slow him down by that time he had almost ran 3 cars off the road, but he almost slammed into me, The whole time all 3 of us were on the phone with 911 and state police giving them Truck number, Trailer number, Company Name and Trailer License Plate, and NOT A SINGLE COP in 45 miles showed up.. not a dang 1 and we kept calling till we got to I-95 and no one showed.... i was very disappointed that guy was either drunk or had been up WAY TOO LONG

Wow, guess I never thought about anyone not showing up! A few years ago I was trying to get around this car. He was all over the 2 lane road. He went all the way from crossing several feet over the center line to pulling himself back out of the dirt on the other side. This kept up for over half and hour, I had already called him in and followed him to a Walmart parking lot. I didn't wait but did call back again to tell them where the car was. I wonder now if anyone ever showed up!

theres 2 things you can do to rectify this problem

    1. call your local DOT office and have them waiting (yes they do roadside piss tests)

    2. leave it be until such time that they may cause an accident and they kill or seriously injure someone and then they can meet bubba

So...let's say you come home from work 1 day, and walk in on some scumbag holding a gun to your wife's/child's head. You gonna "leave it be" then too?
Sorry, but I'm not going to wait til an obviously high/drunk/exhausted driver, either car or big truck, wrecks and kills someone, or several someone's. Sure he/she will "get to meet Bubba" at some point, but I wouldn't want to meet the families of the victim(s) that I knowingly allowed some a-hole to kill.
    Just my 2 cents worth....
