yeah i think there is some confusion on an OUTLAW trucker.... running drugs, guns, stolen cars???? those of us who ran more than one log book, blew scales etc, were considered "outlaw".....the biggest percentage did NOT run drugs, guns or stolen cars.....WOW.....no wonder ppl think we are bad, if that is what the public thinks of us....
x1Heavy, Tonythetruckerdude and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
I did? Really? Wow, maybe I need certified, I wonder if DB would induct me into the DOT hall of fame?

This is the saddest definition of an outlaw trucker I have ever seen. Wow, you've got some imagination there, young lady.
Those days are LONG gone, with random drug screens, and level 1 inspections on the side of the road. You'll be HARD PRESSED to find one of these types in todays trucking. Maybe you need to go down to AZ or TX and interview the mexican truckers. They fit that description much better than our drivers here in America.

You don't think thats a wonderful aroma comin outta that bullrack, I try to park near one just so I can sleep.....

I'm an outlaw. I drive under the speed limit

I think I'm starting to get a better idea about Outlaw Truckers. I knew about dodging the scales or "chicken coops" as another guy referred to them as. Why is it that independent truckers have such a distaste for the union???

Consider this a job interview, Kendra. Why would I talk to you when I don't know who you are?
"Outlaw Trucker." Why the caps? You seem to think there is or was an "outlaw trucker culture," that the topic would make a fine magazine article (I realize this is an assignment), and that people who had broken a few laws would give it up to a voice on the phone. So someone told you "wonderful, exciting stories" and you believed him. Did you do any fact checking or background reading for depth? Where did you get your ideas? A Burt Reynolds movie? A "reality" show? A video game? There's nothing wrong with being naive, but why push it?
Ah ... attitude. First rule of journalism: don't insult your sources.
This is ridiculous. You were "told"? I mean no disrespect, Kendra, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Cronkite's rolling over in his grave.
There's no need for phone calls or emails. Just post your questions.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
Union talk is reserved for the political forum only. We don't talk union in open forums here, unfortunately.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

i dont think he means an outlaw in the law breakin sense per se. i think he is looking for old time drivers who drove fast trucks, that were decked out, and who absolutely loved running the roads.
they got the job done, and never were late, always had time to help someone out, and could fix about anything to make it in.
things were somewhat different years ago, there are few fast trucks and even fewer fast women these days.
i guess none of you would even know what a black beauty was, wouldnt know hand signals warning of things up ahead, but as waylon jennings said " ladies love outlaws"Tonythetruckerdude, PHXKendra, JRP and 1 other person Thank this. -
