I have a feeling that you may be right. And even if they only break even, you know that they are making a killing sending trucks up to CT while paying the driver .28cpm when the load pays them $3.00+

$575 for 228 miles sounds to cheap to me.

At least 7 hours a trip involved so that's 82 an hour. That's cheap.

How much per mile is fuel in your area?

As long as it doesn't involve more government.

Obviously you guys do not run out of New england or live up here because $575.00 out of CT on 228 miles or $2.52 a mile is very good. 95% of the loads out of this area are $1.10 to $1.50 a mile tops for a flat. Thats why i get so mad when a guy can get more but they choose to run for less. I do not know where you get 7 hours ,i go out for the $575 run 60 miles back toward home reload right back to the same mill for $650.00 on 165 miles all in a 12 hour day. 505 miles total for the round. Just found out the new guys did not show up for the 2 loads they have and i told em i was to busy. Let em sit on them a while. Now my rate just went up.

You think it's possible that there really is no other company that underbid you, and they were trying to get you into a bidding war with a phantom carrier to lower their rate?

For a newb, you're pretty quick. Of course they'll do this, and the smaller the shipper the more likely they'll try.

    SHC Thanks this.

They had someone else, i found out the name of the guy today from a freind that works there. Same guy that cut my rate going to Holland Ny by $225.00 dollars back in 09 did a few loads then they stopped shipping loads there. . Thought he was gone but i was wrong.
