Assuming the unit is out of warranty, why not try to fix it himself?
I thought that is what these forums were for after all....
Checking the level of the freon, then checking for 12v at the compressor is hardly brain surgery IMHO.
Between checking the freon levels, checking for 12v at the compressor, and using jumpers to check the switches, I think a guy can do a lot on an ac system.
Just my .02 though I guess.
MartinTrucker2211, mtoo and Chris50 Thank this. -
Here's my problem, bought a used 2008 Tripac APU, installed it everything works. If I set the APU to come on when voltage drops, it comes on and runs till my voltage get back up then shuts off. Now I'm trying to charge the AC with freon, vacuum the system put about a pound of freon in it, but the unit will kick on and run for about a minute then shut off, then the ACS code. I know the compressor clutch is not kicking on. Any ideas out there will be greatly appreciated.

Im pretty sure it needs more than 1 pound but im not sure of the exact amount. Its posted on here somewhere or google. Ive seen it but cant remember where. I was told before if the amount isnt right on, it will give you the ACS code.
bonous Thanks this. -
Yeah, according to what I have been reading it takes 1.5 lbs no more than 2 lbs. but I wonder why the compressor clutch don't kick on with 1 lb in it. Also I just realized that the condenser fan on the back of the sleeper kicks on just before the unit shuts down then it shuts off as well.

Check the single wire going to the compressor and make sure its getting 12 volts when it tries to turn on. The condensor fan is supposed to start when the ac compressor comes on and turn off with it also. Your compressor might be toast.

Ok, will do thanks a lot!

The sensor that sits on top of the dryer (which should be below the unit on the back of the cab) can also go bad, or if it does not have good connections will keep the unit from running. They have changed the style of that condenser a couple of times over the years, and how many wires are on it.

I will check that out also, thanks!
