My first and only co-driver was an "outlaw" in a way I guess.:biggrin_255:
We had stayed at a truckstop in TX on our way into NM. I had a CDL B with a CDL A permit.
I kept a log book up to within 1/2 or 2hrs completed daily. :biggrin_2558:
My co-driver did catch up sometimes.
Well he wasnt in good mood......driving into NM I reminded him of log book due to scales on our route. "Aw their never open " he says.
Sure enough we get closer and its OPEN !!!
We pull up and the officer ask for all the paperwork, reg, cdl, log book.
After he goes thru everything, my co-driver hands him the log book.
    :biggrin_2556:
    Officer, "theres nothing here"
CD, " what do you mean?"
    Officer, "theres nothing logged"
CD, " what do you mean?"
He hand the log book to my co-driver and CD say " #### that pen! I used the wrong pen!"
Officer, " what do you mean?"
CD, " the invisible ink pen, #### trick pen my kid gave me"
    :biggrin_25521: I about died!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA :biggrin_2559:
He got inspected up the woo hoo, and out of hours, couldnt move.
But after he fixed the tiny problems, he couldnt drive till the next day.
    So,....
we went in, got signed off and showed my lic, permit & log book. The officer snickered and told us to get the heck off his lot. LOL :biggrin_2559:
I was so thankful and so was my co-driver. We laughed for a long time about it:biggrin_25514:

    alds Thanks this.

Spoken like a true outlaw - LOL. How irresponsible of you to think that you can push on through the fatigue.

Maybe you need a federal bureaucracy to mandate life for you? An agency to tell you when you can work, when you must rest, etc. Being called in to pee in a cup on command would be an added benefit to the rest of the public.

Only then will you really understand what it's like to have every bit of your life under a microscope because of your work. Then you'lll understand what it's like to be forced to lay around when you feel like working - and forced to work when you'd really like a little nap. All because of some silly and inane one-size-fits-all regulations put in place by people who don't even understand what it is that you do.

And maybe then you can finally understand that being an "outlaw" and fudging a little bit on some of the rules isn't necessarily such a bad thing.

I'll Bite Last company I drove for I was known as one of the Bosses Untochables aka one of his 12 Outlaws. We did the Runs that needed to be done when the company was in Trouble. Like the 2 weeks I ran as a Team SOLO. 16K miles in 2 weeks by myself later I was dragging my butt but did it. 4K a week no Problem Solo I did it week in all the time. 42 Hours to the Yard from Salinas CA Routine drop the wagon and grab the next one heading West. How he did it was SIMPLE. The 12 of us had company Painted trucks decorated the Same as the rest of the fleet BUT we had test 14 liter Detroits under the hood with a min 565 Ponies under the hood and NO GOVERNORS. Late at night nothing to cruise at 80 MPH in NV and laugh at Swift as they went WTF was that. Plus we got 35cpm whent the rest of the company drivers were getting 28cpm. Hey we earned every penny also. We bailed out teams and did crap that still the 12 of us go WE DID WHAT when.

Bossman has had to retire and the Untouchables all of us are out of trucking due to Medical reasons could it be all the Epedidrene we popped and stuff but hey it while it lasted.
