Yes Google is my friend, you can be also. You say it's on a "state by state" basis for how much time you have to spend on pre and post trips and I can't find any info on that. So if you can point me in the right direction or a link to a state law that says so.....it would be appreciated.
Time on pretrip?

Well...you are saying it's on a "state to state" basis so you must know of at least one state that says you will have xxx time on a pre or post trip inspection. I have did a couple of searches and could not find anything so what I am asking is for you to show me/us where this information is. Gimme just one state.

I like to do shifts: drive 10 sleep 10 and log about 1 hours doing the BS....hey that leaves 3 whole hours to surf the web, LOL!

There is no time set in the regs. One has to consider when putting up your pretrip/posttrip what all needs to be done for each. If you properly do all that is called for then a min of 15 minutes should be right. What I laugh at are the people who could not possible walk or rather waddle around their trucks in 15 minutes.
Watched one fellow in Maryland took him 15 minutes to walk to his truck that he had left parked at the closest fuel bay to the doors of the pilot. Then another 10 minutes just to sqeeze into the tiny door opening in his Peterbuilt. For him anything under 45 minutes would be producing falsified logbooks. -

If I may borrow something from you.....
"If you're going to present something as fact then you need a citation."
As far as I have been able to determine, and I have looked at various state's websites and can't find anything related to "time" and inspections. -

rockee Thanks this.

On a side note, I can see why state DOT's want you to log 15 minute pre and post trips. Anything under 15 minutes gets flagged and doesn't warrant a duty status change.
