Vacuum tanker....empty weights?

Stick w/ Stainless Steel.

There is a reason most environmental companies use day cabs. Vacuums will vary depending on the equipment and design but expect tractor and trailer to be north of a 32,000# tare w/ a sleeper and PTO driven vacuum pump.

A pony engine will add more weight.

 

exactly...i am remembering empty weight of around 33000 lbs.
it was a heavy duty stainless steel insulated 6000 gal vacuum trailer.
1980's cabover mack sleeper with pto driven vac pump. hoses,fitting, tools, etc.

i suppose many variables, i don't think all shell thickness are the same.

it appears stainless steel is the preferred material for most vac tankers

 

Insulation and the s/s wrapper add a few pounds too.

That's what guys are running here in PA mostly 130bbl trailers atleast from what ive seen.

 

how common is it to refer to tanker capacity in bbl? i never heard of it
until i started reading about the oilpatch operations in the last few years.

The "b" may have been doubled originally to indicate the plural (1 bl, 2 bbl), or possibly it was doubled to eliminate any confusion with bl as a symbol for the bale. Some sources assert that "bbl" originated as a symbol for "blue barrels" delivered by Standard Oil in its early days.

1bbl=42 us gallons

 

ALOT of companies refer to tanks by barrel sizes in the gas patch up here, when we pull production water it's out of 210 barrel tanks and we haul 112 barrels per truck, on my paper work they want the amount of barrels and gallons hauled.

 

I always just thought bbl was short for barrel, atleast thats the way the term is used around here.
