The antenna mount could be part of the problem somw require a insluater ( the black thingy :biggrin_25525: ) you might check the mount for shorts ... COAX can be a problem but unless it is cracked or broken should be ok .

What bothers me is the lack of receiving IF you have a ohm meter ohm the antenna out check the coax with the antenna disconnected to see if it is open or shorted you should also be able to test the system from the center pin on the pl-259 to the wip of the antenna it should read almost a short ...

Antennas can make a growm man cry .... unless they work your dead in the water :biggrin_25513:

I have a radio because several of the places i go to pick up or drop off loads require it, i ussually drive with it off so i dont have to listen to all the bs, you know the guys that talk but dont really saying anything worth hearing. The only time i run with it on is when im running with another truck from my company.

I asked for advice with a problem that i admitedly need help with because i dont know a whole lot about cbs and i get an answer that sounded pretty #### condisending. Maybe he didnt mean it that way but where i come from it sure sounded like it.

I talked to one of our drivers, our resident cb expert and one of our senior drivers and he confirmed what was said here in earlier replies, that it sounds like its just not got enough power when i key up and i should also check my antennae mount.
